That is partially true.
But there are a healthy amount of “l’m mad because they are getting it cheaper now even though I had a similar deal when I started/signed up/whatever.”
Don’t believe me? Read any application with an advertisement for anything.
The deal isn’t always horrible, and people forget that when you sign up for something that is prorated or discounted it usually comes with a contract and you have to continue business regardless how you feel, unless you are willing to pay whatever financial penalty that’s in the TOC or TOS.
It’s a tool that they use to ensure continued revenue over time.
But we can agree to disagree.

We can definitely agree to disagree. I particularly do not like people who defends business practices which are legally OK, but clearly in bad faith to extort money (which you call ensuring revenue over time, very businessman of you) while providing sub standard service. And FYI, I was talking about deals that only offered new customers but not existing customers with finished contracts and that was just an example of many other business practices that are bad faith.
