“We want Destiny to meet you wherever you want to play”

Post Title is a quote from Eric Osborne in the ViDoc for Shadowkeep. The full quote is: “We want Destiny to meet you wherever you want to play, that’s incredibly important for us”. The video continually touches on how things have changed at Bungie since self publishing and how, now more than ever, it’s a two-way communication between Bungie and players dictating the future of the game. It’s an excellent video. It also frequently mentions that Bungie sees this as a decade long journey where we are building our character and customizing it and how that philosophy or mindset has translated into new features and game mechanics. And you’re right. I have been playing since about 3 months after initial release and outside of the past year I took off, have played every expansion and chased every exotic (got Gjallerhorn before Xur sold it!! So many strikes... Totally worth it). So my character is indeed super important, representing approximately 500 hours iirc. After my ps4 and xbox one were stolen, and I decided to get setup on my PC to dive back into Destiny with the release of Shadowkeep a couple days ago, I was extremely disappointed when I logged in and saw that nothing was carried over. Not a single item. After some research I realized that the cross save instructions were not clear enough for me. I haven’t looked at them again since, but I remember thinking it wasn’t a huge deal and since I was on PC now of course I wanted PC to be my main account... Not seeing or maybe not noticing that I would be losing all my stuff for 90 days. It felt like I was being punished but without doing anything to warrant it; quite the contrary, I purchased everything a second time to play on PC, I have much love for the game and the community, and am an advocate for the game. This 90 day restriction, which only impacts your existing, spent-years-grinding & looting, invested-the-most-money, and veteran players... goes against everything you put forth as the core values and philosophies of Bungie / Destiny. Not just in that ViDoc, but what you’ve been saying since before launch. I will play on my PC for the next 3 months until I can correct my simple misunderstanding and set my PS4 as the main account, but that’s 3 months wasted on it as I’ll have to do it all over again (The other option is to fork out an additional $300 to get another PS4). I am very disappointed with this and you should seriously reconsider this policy. Allow a grace period where you can switch the main account and put some other security measures in place to prevent what you’re trying to prevent with this policy. You are withholding years + countless hours of work, which you acknowledge is incredibly important to Bungie’s values and decisions, for 3 months, from some of your most loyal players who haven’t done anything wrong. Needless to say, it’s frustrating, disappointing and doesn’t make sense.
