NERF ERENTIL AND BACKUP PLAN

I really hope Bungie, that you pay attention to this post. Erentil is a weapon that has large usage in survival on console. It needs a range nerf and the perk "Backup plan" to be removed from the weapon. A fusion rifle SHOULD NOT be able to kill you at Pulse rifle range. And the perk , "Backup Plan" should not exist on such a weapon. Hand cannons got a nerf because they could three tap at such range, but nothing was ever done to fusion rifles. A "God Roll" Erentil is an easy way to win, especially with backup plan and TAKES NO SKILL to use. You are losing a considerably large player base because of this and I hope you take into consideration to look into this and give it the tweaking it deserves. Edit: I was extremely upset at the time of this posting because I faced 3 erentils and a jotunn in survival and also faced it twice again a couple of matches later. I still stand by my argument to nerf erentil, if not it's range, backup plan for sure. Also, wish it was taken it out of managerie and make it only available via Gunsmith.

    • Backup plan should go to plan c. Other than that....um....map awareness? If you're too close charging in mindlessly yeah, you're a target. If you're far, like 40 meters and up, you'll live. If you juke and use your vertical space, you may live if they don't see you fast enough. If you compete in hc range without cover, you're dead. If you stand at 40 meters and stand still, you're dead. Stop charging into fusions, or back up.

      Stompees, luna’s howl, and drb. Yet you feel like you have to complain about erentil? Gtfoh. It’s always players like YOU who complain about erentil. And ain’t no one quitting the game over erentil. Matchmaking sucks, plain and simple. Players have never stopped playing over one weapon, not even when LoW was mapping from 20 meters.

          I think that backup plan is the only truly broken thing. Someone is around a corner, you see them on your radar and back up so you don’t get shotgunned, they slide and swap at the same time vaporizing you in .4 seconds. There is literally no counterplay at all to that. You don’t know if they have a fusion because there is no charge time audio queue so you just have to guess, and the only way to counter it is guessing correctly what they will do and run away. But running away isn’t really a counter, when something can only be countered by running from it it is overpowered imo. I think the range is pretty insane and annoying but tolerable. It allows people to primary fusions and gets very annoying to go against but it isn’t as broken as backup plan.         • Keep erentil but remove backup plan from fusions. The incredibly low charge time with backup plan makes them fire at close to the same speed as shotguns but with triple the range. Sometimes even quadruple.

It’s does not have a large usage in survival. It has 1% usage in survival. That includes PC which has the highest % of active players playing the game post new light. Even if you look at console only, which you shouldn’t because you should look at all platforms when considering balance changes that effect all platforms, it is not the most used special weapon OR energy weapon. The fact is it’s the 5th most used energy weapon and the 5th most used special weapon in survival. The back up plan perk isn’t even a good perk for dedicated fusion rifle users. It’s better to control your charge rate yourself and get the consistency of using other perks in that slot. The gun is balanced and serves a role in countering the meta loadout of shotgun + handcannon. Nerfing a viable gun out of viability would just make the META more oppressive, the game less varied, and the game less fun. The gun doesn’t map anyone in actual crucible matches. The majority of its kills come from <20m against players who push it out of cover then complain they got mapped. If you watch gameplay footage of players using the gun for high kill games you see that they get most of those kills at <20m against running at them in the open, or standing still out of cover. You can adapt to perform well against fusions by not pushing fusion users out of cover, not stand in the middle of lanes spamming your primary at them, and not peek corners when you hear the very loud audio queue of a fusion charging. Do that and you won’t have anything to complain about anymore. No need to keep spreading the dead memes about this gun, do what good players do and adapt when you actually run across one in your games. There is no need to try and be over dramatic and try and claim the game is losing players because of a gun that isn’t overpowered and doesn’t need a nerf. If you have data to present that suggests it’s overpowered go ahead, but there isn’t any.

I'd argue that they might need another nerf, granted ARs need to actually be competitive before touching Cannons again. But Spam Cannons are stupid easy to use and incredibly bloated in pretty much every aspect other than damage falloff. But especially slow fusions are about positioning and brain skill, since they're super slow and if improperly played, you're done for. PvP, limited maps and stuff and a meta that's been more or less the same few guns for over a year now. It's been Spam Cannon, maybe Pulse/Shotgun or Sniper for the most part since the weapon slot and TTK changes, the only real difference is a few challengers to that have come and gone like Recluse.                 Erentil, Elatha, even Wizend Rebuke and the new Gallant Charge can all map people. If anything it's a issue with high impact fusions. I'd agrue Erentil is most common since you can print it on demand in Menagerie. The only thing broken about them is Back up Plan. Literally takes the only negative about them (slow charge time) and says "nah fam." But in survival, don't you play to win? To win you gotta play meta trash. So of course Erentil is gonna be excessive in comp. But so is Luna/NF and you can't use both those and Erentil at the same time.
