I have a theory that sunsetting is actually a way to force F2P players to buy content.
If half or more of the weapons are retired and you don’t buy seasons you are going to be pretty much sol when it comes to weapon choice in your loudout.
I skipped Season of Dawn, the first content drop since D1 launch that I did not purchase. I’m a pvp player, I didn’t want to play another horde mode, and none of the paid quest exotics appeal to me.
It got my thinking that that in a year or so when a number of my weapons are retired I will be missing a whole sweet of weapons and leave my self at a severe disadvantage.
This is coming from a player who has played all content since D1. Think of a F2P player who just hoped in during Shadowkeep. If they haven’t paid for any seasons they are going to have only world drop, trials, and IB weapons to use in a few seasons.
Seems like a scam to me.
