What video game special move or ability do you enjoy using the most?
It could be from any kind of game, like fighting games, rpgs, action games etc.
Weapons don’t count, unless the weapon has a special ability other than shooting and slashing.
Some of my favorites are the Nova Bomb from Density, the Sith Warrior’s Obliterate ability from SWTOR and Thoron from the Fire Emblem series and Smash Bros.

Edited by Fear of Missing Out: 4/4/2020 10:02:41 AMEither the Profaned Greatsword's (from Dark Souls 3) uppercut attack or the poke. Both are hilarious.

I can’t think of many other examples off the top of my head but I really like Morning Star from Persona 5
-
Good old shoryuken.

Originally, it would be teleportation in any games. Now? It’s Doomguys ability to dash faster than an ex wife taking the loan on your house
-
Hammer Strike, D1/D2 (PEREGRINE GREEEEEEEEAAAAAAVVVES) Falcon Punch (Cpt. Falcon, Super Smash Brothers) Cape Parry (Batman, Injustice)
If you don’t know that last one, look up some clips of it. Brutal
Prob phasing as wraith in apex legends it just feels nice.

Maiden masher - iori yagami KOF

I feel dumb, I can’t believe I forgot to mention Squigly’s Daisy Pusher! You trip the enemy into a grave, and then after burying them, their coffin falls from the sky and smashes into pieces. Why this is a great move should be self explanatory! (still not my absolute favorite, but it definitely deserves an honorable mention)
-
Blade Barrage for the Jedi Knight in Star Wars the Old Republic. Idk why I like it so much I just do.
-
I like walking to the right in Mario

... Jiggle physics...
oh wait you want an actual answer? Fine, I like Reinhardt's Earthshatter and Sigma's Graviton, thing a lot

not included in the DLC

Bullet Jump from Warframe. Best parkour movement I've ever seen in any game.
^Wyoming

Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 4/3/2020 9:15:41 PMDishonored has some of the best abilities in games. Time slowing abilities, teleport abilities, the ability to summon a swarm of rats, the ability to inhabit enemies bodies, the ability to turn yourself into a shadow, etc. Those games were great. The portal gun from Portal is a favorite as well (does that count as an ability?)

The Metroid series has most of my favourite video game abilities: screw attack, wave beam, power bomb, spider ball. I also really like Splatoon 2's ink swimming and Prey's typhon abilities.

Knights of the Round Table- Cloud Strife Biotic Combos- ME2 and ME3

The versatility of Destiny 1's warlock solar sub tree class. Nothing ever jelled so well with what you could do by activating this singular ability. Kat B-320's Hologram exploit on Gears V - Tee hee hee (Have they patched it now?) Chaos Reach in Destiny 2 is pretty slick. Truthfully Lightning's Army of 1 from Final Fantasy XIII takes the cake for me because it's just so cool too look at, using it correctly was rewarding and felt fantastic!

Edited by Caggus: 4/4/2020 3:55:00 AMCole’s lightning storm attack from inFamous 1 and 2 (mostly just inFamous 1 though, the punch and flair of it in the second one just didn’t match up to the original). The ability in my opinion is pretty much a master class of showing the player what it is, what it does and how to use it effectively. It’s the final power you acquire in the final district of the game (pretty much represents Cole at his apex of power) and as soon as you get to the surface to begin using it. The game gives you an unlimited power supply and a large bastion of enemies grouped up relatively close to each other in a straight line like fashion. When you activate it, the sky darkens around you highlighting the blue or red channelling out of Cole’s arms and then a massive flurry of lighting strikes down in front of you and continues to viciously attack the ground going forward in whatever direction you steer it. It decimates everything including vehicles so you know straight away this thing is op as -blam!-. The power of it is further highlighted in how loud and brutal it is as it hits the ground, even more so when it hits someone or something. You get to repeat this 3 times in different areas to learn completely how to use it effectively. In the space of 1 minute, the game shows how destructive it is, when it’s the best time to use it and how to control it so you can adjust the trajectory for maximum damage.
Infamous 2 just doesn’t get what made the original ability so amazing, it puts the ability in Cole’s ion ability slot (which already has much better abilities like the vortex which you get at the start of the game compared to lightning storm which is acquired late game), removed the ability to control the direction of the lightning storm and even nerfed the sound of the lightning. In the first game you can really feel the impact of it hitting the ground and the game makes sure you do, in the second you just hear little hisses of lightning.
Edited by Ach3r0n: 4/4/2020 12:31:54 PMValkyr's warcry from warframe. With a high strength and duration build, you can melee insanely fast and also get a massive armor buff that makes you more tanky. Especially given the fact the frame already has the highest base armor in the game currently for a warframe.
