Short answer: For the "average" player, if you want to get wins and gear, then No. Use your time elsewhere.
After viewing the trials section of the Fireteam Finder, I was very sad to see what players typed out. They basically said, "Carry me for wins/flawless" and "Level 1000+ with above average K/D". With the current situation the gear is not worth the time and frustration because you will lose to an extremely above average player or hacker.
My friends and I who have been attempting Trials almost every night for the past 4 weeks have gotten a maximum win streak of 4 only once. On a rare occasion we'll hit 2, but barely 3 due to our "average " team play versus the "above average" team play our opponents have.
You could argue that my team sucks, but I can argue that the average player isn't going to use their time practicing for the above average skills they need, or pay for hacks. Trials will be worth it to the average player once Bungie makes Trials accessible to them and place an anti-cheat to reduce the amount of hackers.
