It is by far the most efficient strategy to level your character. If the game had a more efficient leveling system built into it's more legitimate systems we would be utilizing that. Many other games have leveling systems that put you close to end game levels at the end of story content. So you don't have to work as hard. This game makes you play hours upon hours, days upon weeks even, to get to end game levels. And it makes you play content we've already been playing up to this point.
TLDR: If you Make a better leveling experience, you will get more players who want to engage with it And not *want* to find the exploits.

Even if some do this, some of us still enjoy the game as is even at full power I still do my stuff that doesn’t bother me and this isn’t hurting anyone we drop our power and get sent in with people doing the same stuff

I am with you on this. I started playing destiny again after pre-ordering beyond light. It was for the first time since shadow keep released and I finished the campaign. I had fun for a little bit but it was quite disheartening to see that nothing has changed since then. Its the same boring repetitive grind to just boost up numbers. You actually don't get strong in this game since its a sliding scale so you are pretty much working for numbers on a screen. Grinding bounties and doing the same activities over and over. Also still amazed that they take quests and shove you into crucible. I am sure my team hated me this week. I have a PVE load out I dont care anout crucible so when I have to go in there for the weekly enngram I am pretty much making my team lose since my weapons aren't rated for PVP and I dont care to hold onto them. Destiny is a complicated game and I like the lore and story which is why I keep returning to be a glutton for punishment but I would gave felt some things would have changed for the better. But alas here we are lol

You would think after dealing with the forge problem back when it released, bungie would learn from it no? The only new thing players have access to is the new dungeon but its locked at higher lights which makes it a tedious process to find ways to reach the required light. Bungie never learns, they make the same mistakes over and over again.

Edited by SScottF 2112: 6/15/2020 2:35:21 PMThis is one of those "You had to be there " moments B talks about creating. Enjoy it. :) I imagine that almost no one who's been playing for a while wants to chase power level every season. The game is designed for us to stop playing how we want and go back to 4 Gambit matches, 3 Strikes, 3NF, 4 of this PVP, 4 of that PVP, weekly moon mission, nightmare hunts, Altar of Sorrows, etc. for weeks. Oh and do that on all three characters every week for weeks. Do this all just to raise a number that didn't need to be raised. The number only gets raised to force that game loop. It isn't surprising at all that people want to skip all that. They will use forges to level up, then get back to playing the game how they want to play it. Yes, it is tough for people who want to do forges legit, but this will probably get patched quickly.
-
Many People will always gravitate to the weakest, easiest way out of any given situation. This is no different. Afk farm is pathetic. But, i guess theres a reason 90% of you fail at raids and other endgame. Its because in times of hardship, you will always take the weak and easy way out. Facts.
-
What a bunch of poop. You could make the most streamline system in the universe of leveling. People will take the I don't have to anything way, everytime. He'll I ran a whole 4 forges last night, then decided it wasn't worth leaving my game on.
-
I hate to be that 'Well ackchually' guy, but its not the most efficient strategy to level. Farming nightmare hunts for umbral engrams is much faster, however you can't do it afk. I agree with the meaning of the post, but I want everything out there to be factual
-
Worst part is people are doing it for crappy trials and a dungeon full of re-skins lol. I like destiny but the effort has to change in life

TarloDenn
between the ether & the void - old
Here's why & when I do it.. It's free progress, power leveling & legendary shards when I'm NOT able to play. Cooking, eating, cycling, working on music, reading, etc etc I play a solid 4-8 hours most days, so this jus extra sauce. I only farm when I'm not physically able to play. And I drop my light to under 400 which GUARANTEES I only match with other farmers & not impact ppl actually playing Forges. If you have a problem with how I do my thing, that's on you 😎 -
I was about to start doing the Jotunn exotic or whatever quest that requires 10 legendary forges but after I read about the exploits I’m just going to hold off on it.
-
10 years from now, friends will ask me: "Describe the game called Destiny?" Me: "It's a game about Bounties?. . . . . . That's all I can remember."
-
To get to a high enough level to not get two-shotted in the new dungeon. Leveling up legit is slow, tedious and boring as hell (except for Pit of Heresy, that's still pretty fun.)
-
I would still abuse it simply because it is a way to advance my character while not having the time to actually advance my character. Dad life. FOMO garbage promotes this, I feel zero guilt.
-
I just have a heavy work schedule, with that being said I did the afk for 5 hours and only went up 12 levels. Not really worth it in my opinion. It’s as fun decrypting the engrams 1 by 1 as it is just grinding normally.
-
If they ain't going to ban cheaters in Trials, they won't ban people for doing this
-
I would agree, I did everything legit, getting my character to 1033 power I have 3 pinnacles left which are Master nightmare hunts Night Fall, and the new dungeon, all content I would not be able to complete efficiently with out getting my level higher. I'm leveling to be Trials ready. I thought I was leveling pretty well until I saw a ton of people around 1050. Looked up what was going on found out about the AFK farming tried it over the weekend went up 15 lvls and got to enjoy a Sunday away from the game.
-
You're justifying cheating because that's what it is once players who AFK farmed go into power enabled content. In fact, Bungie should ban every player who did this from power enabled content for a month.
-
Edited by Vall-e: 6/15/2020 4:28:38 PMWhy we should invest our time, if they will wipe light in a couple of months? We have no content for 3 seasons in a row, so let us to play in our favorite game the way we all want.
-
Because there to lazy to actually play the game.
-
Agreed. Leveling up is so boring. All AFK farmers are doing is bypassing the boring grind we have to repeat every season. Honestly we should only get a higher power with every major fall expansion. Not every 3 months. It’s just not fun. Let people play the good/new content right away. I think we’ve earned it. We don’t need to prove ourselves by doing the same crap all over again.
-
It wouldn't matter what the leveling experience was. If people can get a shortcut, people will take it.
-
Not bothering me don’t really care
-
Even if the forge afk farm is patched they should leave the recaster armor powerful engram exploit. Earn your engrams and materials, recast for a powerful drop. This allows players to level quickly by playing the game how they want. Then we get into end game content quicker and can begin making builds. I get burnt out and quit playing every season and usually quit playing before I even get to builds. This is a huge problem that needs to be solved.
-
The best way for me so far is to farm the nightmare hunt rage takes 4 min and you get the umbral and the materials every time for me at least went from 994 to 1013 I haven’t tried the afk thing yet but the nightmare is pretty efficient

Traditional systems have you leveled up by the end of the story or campaign. Except Bungie copy/pastes “content” obelisks/bunkers/umbral system because they don’t have real content because they are working on other games. Then they show pictures and a development plan every 2 years apart and sheep worship them
