It is by far the most efficient strategy to level your character. If the game had a more efficient leveling system built into it's more legitimate systems we would be utilizing that. Many other games have leveling systems that put you close to end game levels at the end of story content. So you don't have to work as hard. This game makes you play hours upon hours, days upon weeks even, to get to end game levels. And it makes you play content we've already been playing up to this point.
TLDR: If you Make a better leveling experience, you will get more players who want to engage with it And not *want* to find the exploits.

I’m already 1060 I’m just doing it for the New Materials
-
It just be great if it didn't feel like Bungie is still throttling our XP to level up. Feels like it takes hours just to go 1 level when it comes to the rank packages. And why in the hell is the armor they put in there always worthless once you finally get to it?? It's trash everytime I get it
-
I got to 1054 this week by just playing the game normaly. The excuse that you all do it because levelling takes too long is bs. You have 3 months to level up.
-
im with op on this one. nobody would be doing this if leveling weren’t an issue. and for those of you saying: “i got to 1050 by playing the game normally, you guys are just lazy 😎😎😎“ quite literally have 👉🏻👌🏼
-
Farm away people Bungie only has themselves to blame
-
Took a break for the last season. Came back, did one lot of the weekly bounties and thought I don't want to do this time and time again. I loathe gambit from getting the Dredgen title. Strikes have become so boring. I like crucible. Moon stuff is ok. But the thought of having to grind for weeks just to be the starting level to do the dungeon was basically shit. Watched a vid for afk Forge and now I'm 1044. I can play the game more casually now and even have time to play other games with out having to slave away at this game. Win win.
-
i just cant wait for the upgrade in that thing so i can focus my engrams on a certain type (intellect ftw) You can bet im going to get an op gear set while i can. (also for those that want a legit way, just do ep. its just as fast if not faster)
-
We need slot leveling.
-
Because they suck at this game and it’s simple as that.

Edited by Nazzy, Disciple of Rahndel: 6/15/2020 6:17:53 AMSorry, but it took my friends and I less than 4 days to reach 1050 on 3 characters to do the dungeon with zero forge farming and we took a lot of breaks and played other games in that time while some of us worked full time jobs all of those days. It’s not that hard. If you don’t feel like grinding or don’t have time, then don’t play the game, play something else, simple as that. Ruining other people’s experience to skip the grind cause you don’t wanna do it is inexcusable. To all the people who group up together, properly lower your light or time jump to avoid matchmaking with people trying to actually do the forge, while i still don’t condone the practice, thank you for being conscientious of other players. But there’s a lot of players who don’t give af and plague the forges with afkers making it impossible to actually run a forge without a full group. And that’s what pisses me off the most about it. Additionally, regardless of what kind or how efficient of a leveling system they implement, if there’s an easier cheesier method that yields great rewards for less effort (as is currently the afk forge farm) intended or not by the developers, people will gravitate towards it because they almost always follow the path of least resistance as evidenced time and time again throughout Destiny’s history. The vast majority of the player base always goes for the cheese.

Edited by Jebus: 6/15/2020 7:45:36 AMThe issue isn’t the forge. The issue is the fact that the armour engram is glitched and decodes a lot higher than it should do. I personally have no issue with people afk in forges (I did if for a abit yesterday). The forge afk has been here for ages but it wasn’t worth doing. Now it’s used to exploit the umbral engram bug. If your levelling up with the new ubmral armour glitch in anyway then I’m afraid your a hypocrite. If Bungie wanted to fix it, just disable the armour engram until it’s fixed. Easy solution.

If you ask me https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/256307384?sort=0&page=0 people are growing tired of the constant level cap increases. there's no reason for it. After having to leave work, having a failed back surgery and being unable to work I have all the time in the dam world and I'm, yet again, SICK of it. Of course I'm also sick of Bungie saying one thing only to do another at some point. Sick of them trying to force us to play how they seem fit. And obviously sick of a lot atm in regards to D2 that's really grinding my gears. From sun-setting to slow weapon reloads, etc. I know Luke Smith loves to talk about his WoW experiences yet in MMO a level increase usually only comes with the Major Expansions which would be Fall for Destiny. I know FFXIV does that and when I played WoW that's the only time you saw a level cap raise. Personally I think they should do just that. Raise the cap in the Fall and use the artifact for the artificial level gains every season. If I continue playing D2 I'm at a point now where I feel it's highly likely I just ignore my Hunter and possibly Titan. It may take longer to level but I'm sick of leveling just to continue end game content. Just to run the gauntlet weekly, etc. But you're also right. If there was a more efficient way. If there was even a way to level up right away w/o the need to run the gauntlet on 3 characters for 2-3 weeks just to hit this arbitrary number. Just to give a false sense of accomplishment to players, to pad Bungies player count, etc. I just saw several prominent Youtubers post videos about Forge farming. They make a living off D2 and even they feel the need to forge farm for the cheesy easy level up and be done with it. Bungie really needs to make adjustments. I hope that sun-setting shows them it was a major mistake but outside that things just need to change. This artificial grind is pointless and old. I don't play D2 for a sense of gratification. I play Destiny because it's a mechanically sound game and FPS. Because I truly enjoy the world and game itself. I don't need this artificial BS. My friends who play D2 constantly all play because they love Crucible. Others because they enjoy several aspects of the game. While I often play by default at the end of the day I play because I enjoy the game. Not the level grinds and nut to chase. And again, the seasonal artifact can be our seasonal level increase. That is plenty and more than adequate.

Edited by CunningOrange01: 6/15/2020 8:17:06 AMI just hate leveling in general. I want to play the new dungeon so badly but my boss died of COVID-19 and I work 6-5 days a week at a family resturang and study at the same time home so I have little time to grind levels. I need to sit down and game in peace and destiny's leveling system is in the way of that for me atleast. Rather just play breath of the wild.

People are AFK farming because their options are: 1. Play pre-set activities, some of which they might not even like, that haven't been updated in over a year for some cases across all three characters to gain power for the 5th time; or 2. AFK farm while they watch Netflix and then play what they want after. How am I supposed to enjoy strikes that haven't gotten new loot or even a new strike in almost 2 years? How am I supposed to enjoy Crucible considering its loot is two years old? Same for Gambit, except solo queuing Gambit is the most frustrating experience in the game. And on top of that, all the loot form those activities will be obsolete next season. So I can't blame people for AFK farming at all. This whole system would be much better if all legendaries from all activites could just slowly progress your character and pinnacle activites got you to the end. Or at the very least, update those playlists if they're gonna be a requirement to get into new content.

We are sick of the constant "power" time gate each season. The name "power" also suggest we get more powerful which isn't true, it does 3 things remove penalties, waste your time, and now also sunsett your weapons and armor. Grinding "power" is being seen bungo and a some players as content, while most disagree to them it's a chore that waste time and is unrewarding.
-
The main thing I dislike is the checklist of powerful drops. It's not, "ah I need to level up to 1050, guess I'll play some strikes" it's, " ah I need to level up to 1050 time to do: 3 strikes, 3 nightmare hunts, 3 gambit matches, 8 crucible matches, 8 strike/crucible/gunsmith/gambit bounties, the weekly moon story mission, Pit of Heresy, Altars of Sorrow etc Etc."
on all three characters
I think the checklist thing is fine for the pinnacle grind, but if we're going to have to do 40-50 levels of grind every season that's gunna suck.
-
Well leveling the season pass seems to be more of a pain than this farming to level up. Sucks that the 2 weapons are further in the pass than previous seasons. I want that damn sword already, sadly only upto 16 in the pass. Guess all the complaining made them say here grind till you get there.
-
Edited by High Noon at Jötunn Saloon: 6/14/2020 11:39:32 PMI power and pinnacle leveled legit for 3 days and I'm afk farming now to build up materials for focusing and have a fat stack of engrams ready on Tuesday after I unlock getting 2 final perks on the weapons. Here's a deal for you Bungie - Don't make me refrind the same weapons with the same rolls (Gnawing Hunger etc) and I won't afk farm. All right, good talk.
-
Nightmare Hunts also give umbral engrams. You can speed run them in a couple minutes and they are pretty much always guaranteed
-
Another efficient strategy is to solo queue into PvP. You will be matched against sweaty six stacks of flawless, more so now with trials being off. After being killed, then killed again, then killed again, then killed again, then killed again, then killed again, then killed again, Shax will call it. You can then load into another crucible match and the whole thing starts ag.....hold on.....hmmmm..... No, far more fun just sitting watching your character forge farm 💁♂️
-
Yep. This game is designed to steal your time so for me, this was a way to get some of it back. I did one character legit to 1038 then said F- it. And ya know what? I'm gonna do it every night while I'm sleeping until its patched. :)
-
Crybabies gonna cry like as if it affects them... So what🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾
-
People are doing it because they’re tired of grinding 50 light levels every 3 months.
-
I didn’t know this was a thing. Wish I would’ve found out about this before putting 30-40 hours into the game this past week...
