Back when Not Forgotten wasn't nerfed, you could find people on places like eBay charging almost $1k just for the gun. What's even worse was some of them had multiple buyers also.

I know it's crazy but think of it relative to their time. Let's say a time poor corporate lawyer with a couple kids likes to blow off steam on destiny in their limited down time. Lets say they bill clients for at 400 per hour. Relative to their time, 1 k is chump change considering how long it would take them to grind for it (or fail in doing so). In fact they may be inclined to pay more for greater security while they hand over account details.
