Felwinter's Lie has become a staple of PvP with almost every game having at least one person using the gun. This is even more prevalent in Trials of Osiris, where almost everyone runs with Felwinter's. The gun is very good there is no doubt about it and this would not be a problem if Bungie had not previously nerfed shotgun's the season before. Simply put the gun is absolutely busted as far as legendary shotguns go. A perk that tightens pellet spread, which is unique to Felwinter's Lie only, and opening shot creates this dynamic where Bungies shotgun nerf has almost no effect on this gun. In testing, the gun has almost the same kill range as the Chaperone, an EXOTIC slug shotgun which needs a headshot in order to kill. I have heard many people say that, "oh well Felwinter's is actually pretty inconsistent," yet it is the most consistent shotgun in the game right now barring again, the Chaperone. The quest for Felwinter's Lie was released for a limited time last season, lasting a few weeks. But the problem is, this quest came out at the end of the season when much of the casual player base had gotten a little burned out of the game. People stopped playing and then the quest comes out. I cannot speak for others but after I stopped playing I distanced myself from Destiny 2 content in general, which means that I missed the news about the Felwinter's quest. Normally I would not care about this, a quest coming out for a few weeks and then going away, but it just so happens that the weapon that was being given away in this quest is the most broken shotgun to have ever been released into the game. In reality it is not the shotgun itself that is good, many shotguns can roll with opening shot and similar perks, it is the archetype of shotgun that makes it broken. An archetype unique to Felwinter's Lie only that tightens the spread and makes is almost a perfect circle every time with very very minimal pellet deviation. This is what makes it able to kill at ranges that should not really be possible with the previous shotgun nerf. Bungie had said that the reason they wanted to remove "power creep" yet the release the best shotgun into the game at a time where the most of the player base is burned out from the game and the grind of it all. I get it that it rewards loyal players for sticking to the game even through the slow times but that does not change the fact that the weapons archetype is cracked. Although I doubt either of these will happen I would really like to see the Felwinter's Quest come back one more time during the Solstice of Heroes event or for a grindable shotgun to be released into the game with the "shot package" archetype the same as Felwinter's Lie. Tell me what you think,if you agree or not, or if you have a better suggestion. I really do not care if Destiny 2 devs see this or not I just wanted to get my thought on Felwinter's Lie and shotguns in general out there.
