What makes a flag?
Is it simple cloth given symbol?
Or perhaps does it deign something more?
A universal ideal of thought,
But the same symbol has many meanings.
A star, a light, shining in the dark
Yet dark and full of blood
Does this star mean both or only one?
Is it the blood of babes,
Or is it the blood of a martyr?
Hero of time?
But of that symbol it’s apparent opposite
Of hammer and sickle
Does it represent the oppression?
The death and the fear?
Yet some could claim it stands for neither
But only for cooperation and comradary.
Both may be true yet what could be instead
Is that that truth is the tome
And the mind is the eye that reads it.
In any event we all be of mankind
So let’s put aside plain symbols we hide behind
And instead work to free one another
From the chains of those who bind them.
