Destiny 2 has its ups and downs, but when it's on its game, it offers up top-notch experiences.
Recently I finally played through The Red War with my Titan and I marveled once again at how epic The Almighty mission is. Invading the ship to destroy its weapons was so much fun. I remember thinking as I was fighting on the outside of the ship where you had to stay in shaded areas or you'd get fried by the Sun that the whole mission was more exciting, epic, and entertaining than anything I had seen recently in the last three Star Wars movies.
Such a pity this mission is being sunsetted soon. But regardless, it does show what Bungie is capable of. I hope there's something of similar quality in the upcoming expansion in November.
What was your favorite all-time mission? Or worst, if you want to get that off your chest, because we know some missions or adventures weren't all that great.
Cheers all.

Edited by HumungousFungus: 9/27/2020 3:29:26 PMCan’t remember the mission name for the life of me, and it was something I was only able to play once. In the EDZ, maybe year 1 of D2? Possibly as part of an exotic quest or some other one-off weapon quest maybe. At the end of it, you end up fighting a servitor or two servitors in a pretty enclosed space, and when you damaged them, instead of just blowing up, they split into more sort of mini-servitors and I just remember it getting very out of hand very quickly with loads of servitors shielding each other and bombarding me incessantly from all angles with all sorts of purple nastiness. Maybe not the best designed or the best looking mission ever, but one of very few I can remember where I went from absolute comfort to complete panic in a matter of seconds before, as my guardians corpse flew balletically several hundred feet into the air, sitting back and saying to myself “well...THAT escalated quickly...”

Edited by Bertram253: 9/26/2020 4:14:16 PM1 AU is the name and yeah it was so epic.

The almighty mission is also one of my favorites. Another one that stands out is the first mission of the red war. Fighting through the tower and seeing the characters helping us and fighting our way onboard the cabal ship was a great introduction mission. Another one is the chosen mission, battling through the last city and all the way up to Gaul was petty epic.

I LOVE the Iron Tomb mission at the end of the Rise of Iron campaign. Nothing felt cooler than booking it out of the replication chamber with your axe with everything exploding around you and that sweet music blasting along the way. 1AU is a very close second, that mission is genuinely one of the coolest missions I've ever played in a game. I mean, you're fighting on a star destroyer and the sun is RIGHT THERE, it made me feel like a complete badass. Last Call is really good too, easily my third favorite mission with Homecoming/Adieu right behind that!

I really liked 1AU too. I thought that a 1AU reprise would have been great for that "Community Event" we had where everybody just stood around at the Tower for 90 minutes waiting for the Almighty to crash. It would have been cool to have Ana come over the Coms with "Hey Guardian, the Almighty's shields are absorbing too much damage. Can you give Red a hand and disable the shield generators?" Then we get thrown into fireteams and storm the Almighty. Get returned to the tower and watch the fireworks.

Shadowkeep final mission, last call, felwinters lie final mission
-
D2? Anything on Titan. They were beautiful, had an aspect of terror, while having great cinematic scenes (and pretty decent voice acting). D1? That mission where you avoid like the spotlights, the stealth one that was hive. Super cool.

That was an awesome mission! I personally loved the one after it, especially when we were all fighting along side each other to take back the city. The world of Destiny finally felt alive for me for the first time. Working with randos to clear a path to the traveler was epic! I guess that's what made that first mission in Shadowkeep so cool too. It felt like the Vanguard was an actual thing, an army of guardians fighting a swarm of Hive! I hope we get a moment like this on Europa. Maybe we all storm one of these Clovis Bray facilities together. Or there's a mission to clear Fallen or Hive out of the Cosmodrome, like we did on the moon. Ps, we need more posts like this on the forums!

Last call. Even with how it ended :(

D2. Any of the Baron missions from forsaken. They did a great job with those. Wish all their story mode was this quality. D1, I loved the rise of iron mission when you had to disable those cannons and those spider tanks drop to defend them. The final mission to kill the Siva guardians was really cool too.
-
D2? When we first raided ghauls ship. D1? REGICIDE.
-
Destiny 2? The mission to steal the computer core on Titan. Destiny 1? Toss up between The Sword of Crota....and the mission to establish a beach head on The Dreadnaught.
-
Another vote for The Sunless Cell strike from D1.
-
You know that daily mission where we stand in the tower and dismantle our 18th Ros Lysis? Yeah that one.
-
D1-Black Garden, the final vanilla mission, seeing the black garden for the first time , and the battle at the end with the 3 Minotaurs and the epic music playing , then you fly to the tower with the speaker giving a victory speech , then the stranger gives you her rifle and dissipates into time “All Ends Are Beginnings!”

Any missions that have a cheese (like the Gate Lord or Taniks) are my favorite missions. Otherwise, the shortest mission would be my all-time favorite or the ones that I don’t have to do it 20 times to get something else done.

Anything from forsaken
-
My favorite is forsakens final mission. Killing the fanatic, climbing the tower, facing the meatball, and ending uldren
-
If zero hour and whisper count as missions, those. Difficult and well put together with a touch of "this is bullshit" at the PL when they came out
-
Do you mean story mission or just overall mission? Story-wise I would say the opening of Forsaken. Hated Cayde dying but god damn did it make me want to destroy Aldren. He killed the comedy part of the Vanguard. Overall mission I would say Whisper. I remember all the buzz when it was first discovered and the rush to complete it to get what was an ungodly evil weapon at the time. Whisper and Zero Hero were probably 2 of the best missions in the game as we just didn't expect them to drop the way they did. Challenging but pretty fun too.
-
D1: The Buried City. Loved exploring the Skyscraper for the first time. D2: Utopia. Wish we got to fully explore the Arcology before it gets sunset.
-
Honestly it's shadowkeep first mission that first time u see one of those pyramids that close up literally gave me chills that has never happened to me before in destiny
-
Nothing left to say, chosen, adieu, regicide, paradox, and corridors of time part 1 are my personal favorites. They were truly incredible
-
Regicide all the way
-
None of them really stand out for me. My favorite missions are all from Destiny 1. I suppose the first Forsaken one was pretty good along with the first from Shadowkeep. I just loved the part where I'm fighting in an open space with other guardians. I wish that would be more common.

Homecoming
