Life is a farce, but no less reality.
Escape is right next door,
should you find yourself there.
Had you been inside the helm,
well, it went something like this;
The first thing I did with what equipment I had at the barn, was retro-fit this NS-22 jumpship with hydraulic actuators over a 2-night coffee binge I had during the Red War.
Elbow grease got my mind on solving problems, and there was a lot going on.
The side wing articulated quite nicely.
Elevators, along with rudders for effect.
Nothing fancy, just simple redundancy.
I painted three large T's on to the fuselage,
'The Tall Tale' it was dubbed.
I had yet to find the left, at the time.
A sweet starboard, for what it was worth.
Now, see, the port-side motor, that's a different story.
That's a grail of a piece I stumbled upon,
back when Ghaul got sucked in to the Traveler, and I was the lucky one to see it in person, people thought I had slain a god.
I emplored that this was false.
I had glimmer up to my ears, and I didn't do shit.
It was weird, being hailed as a hero who had slain a psuedo-emporor, when I had very little to do with his inevitable demise.
I frequented the hangar every time I slid in to the tower, hoping I could find that special somthing to let the lead out with. A single jump-drive was suspended in the rear of hangar, after an extra was ordered by mistake for a frieghtliner.
Asking Holliday about it, she said it was a waste of money, and that there were reasons why she did the paperwork herself now a days.
Mis-counting a specialty 3 million dollar motor back in November didn't help spring the shelves to life, or anything else.
So none-the-less,
I had a whole dumptruck full of glimmer unloaded from a VTOL, and backed it up to the hangar, parking it right next to Holliday's bike stand.
"Y'all need a truck?.",
I pipe, ready for a full-retort.
"Speak of the devil! Does that thing have a hemi?"
She asked, pulling her goggles up to see the truck in higher definition.
I replied in kind, "This is diesel, porkchop;"
I rolled coal and pulled the horn.
All of it's glory rang true,
and was heard through-out the tower.
"it makes the whole world come full-circle!"
This, a humble sermon.
I left it there, in the hangar, for them to figure the numbers.
In the mean-time, Holliday put that truck to work, hauling the parts shipped in to the Tower Hangar back to the barn.
I don't give a damn about money, to be honest, but this was a jump-drive I could slap on my mangum opus of everything I had learned to work with.
I put my own blood, sweat, and tears in to that engine. The transducer itself was million credits, and worth every penny in the slots.
To be honest, I never won anything.
In the first few test flights, infrequently,
it hardly got off the ground.
It took me a while to figure it out, that
the drive's thrusters didn't activate unless it was at full throttle.
This was an issue, because the fuel pumps would flood the main engines at start-up. So even if I did disengage the clutch, revved the main thrusters in tandem to full throttle, and engaged the clutch again, it let it all out in a whooping roar.
Adjustments could have been made,
but I dodged going back to fix it.
After I dumped everything I had in to creating it, there weren't many options left on the table;
just bacon.
Instead, I offered the transducer my own Light.
Just enough to provide power to the static dampeners, keeping it afloat.
This was a fair trade that took practice,
but not much effort.
However, today was not my day.
All these little decisions I made lead me here, most currently, I was losing speed that I desperately needed for lift flying towards the tower.
"Wow, I hate politics."
