(Opinion) Hunters need a PvP nerf or something

Let me start off by saying that this is a bit of a rant, but there are some merits to what I’m gonna say. If you disagree with any of my points, feel free to respond. Hunters need some sort of a nerf in PvP, getting real tired of playing trials, getting to the lighthouse match, and facing a hunter 3 stack that abuses the evade and triple jump abilities. What’s even more frustrating is when I shoulder charge, shotgun blast, or do any sort of damage to a hunter, they can just dodge at the right moment and negate all damage. Definitely a crutch for sure. It’s not fun going up against someone that with one button press can immediately get behind and above you in one motion. Not to mention the exotics for hunters are tailor made for PvP for the most part. My clan and I have had plenty of discussions on this topic, we are made up of titans, hunters, and warlocks. We did a rough estimate, just from exotics, hunters have 85%-90% PvP exotics (exotics that are made just for PvP or can be used for PvP or PvE) , warlocks are the same (mostly gauntlets), and titans have 30% PvP focused/ are good in crucible. I have no idea what could be done to change the hunters to make them more balanced but, there is a reason why most PvP content creators and most of the PvP community uses hunters. It’s because hunters are easy mode for PvP. Edit: almost forgot the fact that middle tree arc staff can block missile Titan super and not lose the super

  • My question is do you think top tree solar Warlick is fine. Hunter and titan both have issues but the base melee on Warlock is broken. It tracks around corners, does aoe and burn. In 1 ability with no exotics buffing it...

  • There's just alot of hunters. You've developed a bias because that's what you see killing you most often. No nerf needed.

      Bad idea. Hunters don't do anything legitimately nerf-worthy. I agree that some mediocre subclasses and exotics could use some minor tuneups to make them feel a little better in PvP, but Destiny has proven time and time again that nerfs just aren't the way to go most of the time.

    • IMO, nothing needs to get nerfed lmao. All classes are good. It depends on the player of course... I used to main warlocks back in the day, and moved to being a hunter. I get killed by titans the majority of the time. It just depends on your play style. Each class has their benefits in each playlist for all the game types. I see crazy op warlocks... crazy op titans... and crazy op hunters. It depends on the player. The main thing that bothers me the most, would be the stupid 1 hit kill melees with the titans. Plus, warlocks and titans class ability are both team oriented. While hunters IMO with the dodge... Are used for pvp. Not gonna argue, just telling you how I see it. 👍🏻

      • When you think about it, all classes have their crutches. I had this conversation playing trials today with my buds. Warlocks, they zoom, and they zoom FAST. (as a warlock main I have no problem with this lol) and top free dawn is nuts. Titans, they have their shoulder charge, their super, their abilities, their own crutches yada yada yada. (Let's leave them to their crayon munching) Hunters, they dominate the vertical space. It's practically their staple. Otherwise, hunter would practically be useless. In my experience, warlock dodges are just as good as hunter's (except that hunter dodges stop aim assist for the duration of the Dodge). I can back out of an engagement, and re-engage just as fast. If a hunter jumps above me, I just keep moving forward so they jump past me. TLDR I agree, but I disagree, and every class is dumb

It is incredibly easy to get hit/killed mid-dodge. It happens to me all the time and I also kill people mid dodge all the time. Shoulder charge like all other melees has spotty hit detection (It’ll work sometimes, and other times it’ll whiff). The dodge isn’t gonna save your from a Shoulder charge (I get Shoulder charge out of dodge a lot. Hell my last Trials loss was because I tried to dodge a Shoulder Charge) As someone else said, you see a lot of hunters and so a lot of your deaths will come from them. That will develop into a bias. That’s just how it goes, and it is rather difficult to not be biased. I don’t mind seeing a buff to Titans or Warlocks but I’m tired of people constantly complaining about Hunters.

        • It's funny cause every class think the other ones are easy mode... let's be fair they all have there ups and downs.. broken builds and busted exotics! Hunters are widely used because the movement feels natural and fluid. It feels like most other games in that respect. The jumps and dodge feel natural. The glide and burst of the other classes take getting use to and can be even more advantageous if you take the time to master them... most casuals dont put in that time tho.. just want to play right then and have something that feels good to use.

          • I would say that the thing that makes hunter so great is their jump and dodge. The dodge nor jump does not negate any damage, other than a glitch with at bolt Grenades that I have seen. One reason that you may be finding little success while trying to shoulder charge is because it uses destiny’s melee physics and I think we all know that they are terrible, also unless utilized very well it is pretty easy to dodge, especially when facing high tier player like u said you were facing at lighthouse games. One thing that I think is wrong about your post is when you said that hunters had almost all of the pvp exotics. I would just like to point out that in reality hunter mains only use stompees or worm husk bc the others are quite underwhelming. All of the classes are in a similar situation with titans only really having three, oem, dunemarchers, and synthoceps. Warlocks also only really have three, ophidian aspect, transversives, and ophidia spade.

              I think it would be reasonable to at least make the dodge cooldown longer. (even if just a couple of extra seconds) The dodge spamming gets ridiculous. And I think the middle-tree guard for Arcstrider is kind of bullshit. Maybe a change so it blocks/reflects 50-80% (or whatever) instead of 100% so at least there could be some kind of counterplay beyond running and waiting for their super to run out?

              • It's been a while but I finally used my Hunter in pvp....holy moly so many tricks to use in pvp! Ima titan main and do ok. But the hunter is spick....makes me want to try Warlock now .

                • I don’t think an all around nerf is called for but the arc strider sub class that twirls the staff around and can block supers and heavy with no time limit until he gets to you and kills you is ridiculous! That needs a huge nerf along the lines of only be able to block for 5 seconds or something. I mean for them to be able to block super and heave until the super runs out is way op. Titans and warlocks have nothing that powerful. I play Warlock Dawnblade and if it wasn’t for the melee and dodge I wouldn’t play it because 8/10 times I use it I get ohk by shotgun or a couple hand canon shots or other supers. Titans have shoulder charge but again, players who don’t play Titan think it’s op but I can’t even count the never of times I charge and miss or get ohk by shotguns before I can connect.

                    • I'm a warlock main. As in, I don't play the other classes. Look up my stats on whatever site. My GT: LI-3DOT-IL Hunters have the best of everything. Class abilities. Exotics. Movement. Hunters [u]don't[/u] need a nerf. Titans have their own abilities and exotics. Warlocks too. Hunters have it best but that doesn't mean they need a nerf. If anything, other subclass need better exotics. Nothing else. Would I like to see some love thrown to warlocks? Hell yes! Do I want to see a nerf hit hunters? [u][b]HELL NO[/b][/u] Nerfs won't fix things.

                        • I’m strictly a titan main and hunters DO NOT need a nerf at all. A lot of people gravitate towards the hunter do to aesthetic design as well as ease of use. It’s definitely the easiest class to pick up and get good with but it has its strengths and drawbacks just like every class in this game.
