Guardian Stories B1, House of Witches. Part 11: First & Last words.
Akain pulled himself towards the open hatch and bravely he stuck his head out of the ship open hatch. Eve was plummeting at downwards, she disappeared below the clouds, they looked like an ocean of white and pink snow. The sun was soon to rise, the sky was magnificent, the horizon and clouds were a thousand of shades of red, Akain stopped for a second just to stare, a pang of grief went through him from the nights events. Quickly Akain turned his sadness into determination. Without another thought, he closed his eyes and took a set outside of the ship, the wind took him. He was falling, spinning out of control, the world spinning around him, he opened his eyes and all he could see was a blaze of hue, like he was trapped in a typhon of radiant colourful light.
Akain used his glide to balanced himself in the air, slowing him down enough so he gained control and then he dived, gaining tremendous speed, he cut through the clouds like a sharpest sword through plastic. He passed through the clouds and Yuri was falling a lot slower than him, Akain spread his arms and legs to slow himself down but he passed her. Over the radio he could hear Eve's voice but the wind that was hitting him made it impossible to hear. The ground was getting closer to them and Eve caught up to him, she gave a thumbs up and he returned it and pointed at the Colossal Tank below, she nodded. They were going to land right in the middle of the armada.
Less than twenty seconds from landing, something passed by them at high speeds, it went so fast the force of it passing him blew him away from Eve. Then next second a barrage of artillery was being shot at them, small explosions missing them just, then one exploded right between himself and Eve. Sending Akain spinning away, way off course, Akain just tried to glide to control himself and slow himself down and he landed heavily on his front.
All the wind was knocked out of him as he felt his ribs crack, white lights appeared in his vision and splitting pain burst into life on the side of his head. Akain could feel himself slipping of the ship, the wind pushing him off, he grabbed onto anything he could find and his hand caught a rugged piece of metal, the effort of holding on was agony. Lumiere his Ghost appeared next to him, it was nearly blown back by the wind, but it fought against it and started to heal him. The white lights in his eyes disappeared and the pain grew smaller until it was gone completely. He pulled himself onto the ship, so he could catch his breath and said thank you my light, the Ghost blinked once and disappeared. The wind was still loud but he could hear Eve over the radio. Did you miss it? Eve shouted. He looked around him now, he had landed on one of the Skiffs protecting the Colossal Walker. Yeah! But I landed on a skiff, Akain replied. He had a second look around him and could see the Colossal Walker on his right, he could see Eve standing, scanning the Skiffs on the opposite sides. Behind him he could see three other Skiffs in a line. Look behind you, I'm on the Skiff on the Skiff in the lead of the others. Akain shouted to her. He could see Eve turn and spot him. Try and find a way to get over here. I'm going to cut the cables lifting this thing, hopefully the fall will destroy it. Eve said as she pulled out her hand cannon to check if it was damaged. Good luck! Akain wished her. You to, Eve said back, without another word she was making her way across the top of the Walker.
Akain rolled onto his back and flattened himself down onto the top of the Skiff. Think. Think... Akain muttered under his breath. He tried to come up with a plan over the sound of roaring wind. Then, he thought of something. A way to stop this army from attacking the City. Akain flipped back onto his front and painstakingly crawled to the front of the ship, the wind trying to pry him away from the ship, he crawled until he was right on the front of the Skiff, just next to where it curved down. He got to his knees and used his light to pull his dawnblade from within him, with two hands he plunged it into the ship and began to cut through the metal, he made a big enough hole for him to fit into, the wind was nearly pushing him back but he held on with all his strength. As soon as he made a hole, arc shots came from inside, a shot caught him in the shoulder, he nearly lost his balanced. He summoned a solar grenade in his hand and threw it in the hole, there was a second of panicked Fallen screaming and then fire erupted from the hole. The enemy fire stopped.
Akain pulled himself one handed into the ship, everyone in here was burnt to a crisp. Lumiere appeared again and healed his arm. Lumiere, this might be the last time I say this, but thank you. Akain said in a voice that couldn't hide his fear. Lumiere blinked and said back in a feminine voice, je te fais confiance, mon Guardian. Akain was shocked that she spoke, her tone beautiful but he didn't recognise the language. Maybe she spoke because she knew it was the end, or that he believed it would be, her first and probably last words, she then disappeared.
Akain grabbed the controls of the Fallen Skiff, Mithrax himself had taught him how to drive these when he was helping them move equipment into their base, when they had formed the House of Light. He flew the Skiff, noticing that he had a spider walker attached to it and raised himself above the one behind him, the blackened controls hot to the touch because of his grenade. He released the spider walker and it fell, he could see on one of the Fallen monitors the spider walker crushing the front of the enemies Skiff an explosion erupted, black smoke bursting from the fire as the ship plummeted to the ground. He could hear the Skiffs crackling radio speak a Fallens dialect, and within moments, the two Skiffs behind him began to fire at him.
It rocked the ship violently as the explosive rounds connected with the ship. The door to the pilot controls opened, angry Fallen came through the door, lead by a large Fallen Captain, surprised to see a Guardian standing where the pilots should be. Akain turned with Yuri's pulse rifle raised, one hand on the controls the other balancing the gun. He fired knowing the best he could do was to hold them back.
Writers note: I've actually been looking to write a story, outside of destiny (but Ill still be keeping these going, but they might come out slower.) I will finish this little story before I decide what my plans are, but I didn't expect to enjoy writing so much like this. I never thought it was something I could do well before, but this is teaching how to improve my writing, I feel like there is a day and night difference from the first part to this most recent one. Thank you everyone for your support, if you have any questions feel free to ask. You guys are the best.
