I'm a side arm main. I like to push and close the gap when I play pvp. Couple of my clan mates think that side arms by themselves are over powered. So I would like to read everyone else's thought on this subject out of curiosity.
My favorite side arms (at this time) are:
Rat king
Travelers choosen
Last dance
Fools remedy
Seventh Seraph
*edit: due to the consistent disrespect toward my own play style with side arms. I am no longer with the previous clan. Still would like to know everyone's thought on side arms during this time though. Intresting thoughts and opinions.

No, sidearms are not overpowered.
-
Nothing is op
-
I love sidearms and been using it since D1 in pvp.
-
Sidearms aren’t OP, as shotguns easily outclass them in very close range, but the trick with sidearms is that they can be used to bait and kill shotgun apes by taking them out just outside their OHK range.
-
It’s load out reliant. I often used snipers, having something bursty and short range like a sidearm has served me well hundreds of times. They are a valuable asset if you get a feel for them. However, a lot of other weapons can do their jobs better. They are a great plan B though :)
-
Burst sidearms are yummy :p
-
They aren’t bad. It’s a matter of map size tbh because damage falloff makes a big difference and some maps are more open.

SHHHHHH KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN you’re make the nerf herders notice >:(

Honestly I feel side arms have always been really good in pvp

Edited by Meaga: 12/11/2020 2:26:25 PMSidearms are really easy to use and I feel that they are incredibly easy to use. The have a TTK that is simply too high while hitting body shots and have a ton of aim assist. They’re sort of the go to gun for someone who doesn’t actually have primary skill but needs to counter a decent shot gunner or titan. To the people who say that sidearms are the only real counter to shotguns, they aren’t. Hitting your shots counters a shotgun. I have no problem using a handcannon only against someone who apes me. Sidearms are just too forgiving for primaries but not good enough to be special, so they’re in a weird spot where they don’t take much skill to use but would be neutered if they were moved back to the special slot.

Unless you’re 6-manning Rat Kings, sidearms are hardly OP: -limited range -still get VOOPED by fusions like everyone else -too stylish/gangsta to be a credible threat Don’t let the sore-losers convince you otherwise. Sidearms are perfectly respectable weapons...unlike those filthy exotic Handcannon spammers...

Your friends crutch on shotguns, there opinions don’t matter.

Edited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 12/11/2020 1:20:06 PMThey're extremely strong in their effective ranges (14-18 meters depending on the roll, maybe 19 with rangefinder max range precision frames? Not sure though.). In a vacuum, the optimal ttks on sidearms are usually between 0.5 and 0.7 depending on the frame which makes them very strong. The best outta all primaries even. In their effective range. Realistically the effective range gap's so small that they're easily outranged by other primaries that can backpedal if you start getting too close, or in reverse easily pushed by hypermobile shottie loadouts that then proceed to OHK you. Especially vulnerable now to behemoth titans with their 2x 11 meter slides and all the other stasis slows and freezes that disable your ability to move that sidearms depend on more than anything. I wouldnt consider them broken at all. Very strong if you have the space to either backpedal a shottie rusher or push another primary user, but it's such a razor fine edge to balance on that in reality other options are just better most of the time.

Love my fool's remedy. Subsistence and Iron grip. Subsistence comes into play much more often than I thought it would. Without Iron grip I found it too unstable for a full auto. Icarus grip mod to jump at a corner as the shotgun sliding hunter/Titan charges around only to hit thin air while you dome them from above. Can often kill a shotgunner as they charge at you before they get to one hit kill range. Felwinter's still a problem on very fast people. Pair with pulse, usually. No special ammo left behind on my death. I'm no pvp player but I enjoy the gun and in my hands performs better than I do with a sniper or shotgun. Fusions arguably better in many scenarios but less fun.

I like my fools remedy. It has decent range and max stability due to iron grip or w/e it's called thing literally has no recoil.
-
Id rather see sidearm gunplay than shotguns sliding, dashing or dodging their way to one hit kills. 🤷♂️ sounds like a crutch i know.

You did not mention Devil's ruin... Why? It shredds.
-
Sidearms are fine. I find them to have hit register issues when aim down sight but otherwise they’re fine. Anyone complaining about it being OP needs to uninstall, or stop holding W while breathing through their mouths
-
No but shotguns are Everywhere you go you get greeted by MR shotgun then you find yourself flying as your blown away
-
Your clanmates are not only wrong, but missing some brain cells. Cheers mate, fúçk the meta.

Last hope > last dance High albedo is crispy too. And if I can get it try devils ruin

Sidearms are great I’ve been using them for a while now. Not even Hawkmoon could pull me away from using them, and that’s saying something as I loved that gun in d1. I just feel sidearms offer me a lot more mobility over a hc so I can play more aggressive. I feel stasis also helps sidearms, with freezing and slowing it allows me to get into effective range easier and also keeping away from shotguns. I’m currently using Travellers Chosen and which seems pretty strong when you have full stacks. It’s a little annoying the stacks dont carry over between rounds of Survival and I’m guessing Trials, but I’ve got better at hard reloading for full abilities for next round. I’m sure at the very high level sidearms will probably be out played by both hc and shotguns 🤷🏻♂️.

try out last hope

The term "OP" gets thrown around so much it's hard to tell who's serious and who's not. If sidearms are OP, then I'm the queen of England. Seriously though, they are great choices, but not OP in its literal sense.
-
Sidearms are an excellent way to counter many popular loadouts which in my opinion is where this notion comes from. Shotgun, Fusion, Auto, Hand Cannon, basically anything mid or close range a sidearm fits as a niche between the two. They suit being just beyond close range, just within mid range.
-
Sidearms can abuse primaries within range But have a very narrow window to counter shotguns. Any small amount of bad spacing or miscalculation on positioning and you get ran over by a shotty. So competitively they are basically irrelevant
