Latest shitstorm on /v/ other than the Dead Island boobies. Basically the GG are playing the Dead Space 3 demo because EA is paying them to do so. The unique link given to them is listed in their description and counts how many times people click it (put a ~ next to the url of the demo to see how many clicks it has). Pewdiepie is another sold out LPer who has his playthrough of the demo with his unique link. GG tries to use humor at times to make it seem less of a sell out but they backtrack every time they make a negative comment and they compliment stupid things so that EA gives them their money. Pretty disappointed to see them stoop to what has been tarnishing the gaming industry.
TL;DR GG is playing Dead Space 3's demo to shamefully promote a game they don't support and to get money from EA.

That kind of sucks, but it's not the end of the world.

I enjoyed the video and the demo, so I guess I am okay with this.

Yeah, you're definitely overreacting over a harmless promotion on a show that is designed first and foremost to be a source of entertainment. Again, they were very honest about how they felt when they were playing, and they made the parts where they had to read taglines blatantly obvious and transparent. I'm no fan of EA games, but it honestly sounds like you're just upset because Game Grumps didn't wholeheartedly oppose their creation with every fiber of their being simply because it was EA games.
-
So getting paid to do something you enjoy is a bad thing?
-
Anyone can scrap their own opinion for the right sum of money, even you.

Who the hell watches game grumps? It's unquestionably the worst and laziest of both egoraptor and jontron's work.
-
Whats new? Game reviewers and LPers have always been shills for gaming companies. #SSDD
-
Why would anyone turn down free money to promote a video game on youtube?
-
What all of this is doing (the LPers all doing this unique link shit) is that it is showing EA that their new system for advertising is going to work as all LPers just randomly decide to play Dead Space 3 and put their own unique link in their descriptive box.
-
Who gives a shit? Why anyone thinks someone should turn down easy money for playing a video game is beyond me.
-
I want to like GG, and now I have a bit less reason to. But I realize t hat making money on YouTube can be quite difficult. Passing up that opportunity does seem quite foolish. And yet, it's at the expense of the assumed honesty your viewers expect.

Edited by Hylebos: 1/15/2013 11:19:48 PMI watched it earlier today, and I didn't feel particularly betrayed. I found all the the tongue in cheek "Oh look, this bird has a message!" bits very amusing, and it was fun to see their reactions, and they even criticized it in places. They could have made it about 20x as subtle, but they seemed pretty damn transparent about it to me.
