The toxicity of lfg VoG teams
It’s bad enough the changes they made with the oracles but the toxicity and elitism of people in these lfg groups is unbelievable. My clan was short 2 guys so we ended up using lfg and found some people to fill the spots. These 2 guys said they had an Atheon checkpoint and ask if we could start there and they’d help us with the beginning parts after so we agreed.
Now this was our very first time in the raid learning everything and these guys had already played and made it to Atheon. So we start and their we a few mistakes but after a while we were getting the hang of stuff. All of a sudden these guys say um I don’t think we will get this done the damage isn’t enough. Now these guys were putting out similar to less damage than everyone else and were making mistakes as well. They just continued to be negative and no longer wanted to help anymore. It’s just ridiculous how people just don’t have the patience anymore to figure out where the mistakes lie, correct it and keep pushing. They rather be negative, create tension and anxiety. People want to beat the raid just as badly as these elitist pricks. Thus why raid should’ve stayed the same as it was in D1 and challenge mode should’ve had the changes.

1 ReplySorry but it would have been hilarious if the raid stayed as it was in D1. After Contest Mode is deactivated the raid how it is now is already a complete push over. Dont want to imagine how it would have been without the changes 😂

No the raid should not have stayed the same. You need to look for like minded folks and join a good clan. Our clan on PS4/5 just crossed 79 clears this morning. We are having a new blast with all the changes. There are good guardians out there. Just need to find them! Good luck!

While I agree that a big part of being in a raid team is helping and working out the kinks, some teams just aren’t good for eachother. Maybe it’s playstyles, maybe it’s something else, but certain teams just aren’t meant to be together.

Unfortunately some people are rude. I usually get a 50/50 mix of good and bad people. Don't let it get you down. Just booth the players and pickup someone else.

9 RepliesDestiny has always been like this. After an hour in one place though, you have to call it. No point spending 2 hours at once section. The whole raid should be done within 2 hours. The only good thing about raids these days, bungie fixed most of the glitchy issues so you can progress a little faster.. If you didn't play D1. .there was a raid with a boss named crota.. Son of a -blam!- was programmed soo poorly early on. You'd get stuck on the boss for hours cause of how bad it was. Even though the raid was super easy.

It’s sad, but it really comes down to a lack of MATURITY, I’ve dealt with lfg people who abused and screamed and chucked a tantrum, I’m just tired of it all really. The saddest thing is, majority are adults that act this way.

I don’t have a clan that raids, no friends that play Destiny anymore, and LFG is my only chance. But things [i]changed[/i] between D1 and D2. The fireteam finder, players attitudes, more unforgiving mechanics, revive tokens. I don’t know if it was one or all of these things but raiding in D2 can be a nightmare for a solo player looking for a team. It sucks. It really sucks.

It's not just VoG. It's the nature of the heavily mechanic laden raid encounters. So there is a lot of anxiety and stress in these lfg groups. And little tolerance for wiping and teaching. And swapping our players is it's own problem because it requires reexplaining and assigning roles. Lfg has been a cluster since D2 introduced raid lairs and I saw a little of it in certain encounters in the calus raid. I think elitism isnt the issue. It's a stress to finish it more than anything. But that's a bungie problem. In D1 one we finished raids all raids by friday and settled in to sherpaing through the weekend. Raids are now too stressful and less people and clans feel comfortable leading teams through raids. Hence it's better to find a core group to raid with and do just do closed raids together. The community for lfg isnt what it once was. Not by a ling shot.

Most were pretty civil about things but when the wipes got too many you could tell people were getting pissed with each other. Instead of helping people we just start getting critical and harsh with each other. There’s the know-it all’s - who are great at telling you what to do and commenting how easy things are only to try it themselves and be just as bad or worse. Really annoying. Then you’ve got the encyclopedia- who thinks they know everything about everything and is not afraid to correct you or give an earful as to why you suck. This game promotes an elitism that is very discouraging. Day one raids should actually be the easiest and most accessible so that ANYONE can do it. Then after everyone has some loot THEN turn on the contest mode and have your race. Make it stupid hard. Have some fun with it. Bungie is terrible at actually maintaining a player base. In gambit we fight each other for motes, fight the adds and fight invaders. Not fun. In strikes we fight for kills. And in day one raids we fight against each other for failing something we just attempted. This game could do so much to promote unity and a sense of community but continue to just make it elitist and exclusive.

Basically, people are too nice. Call out the bad players on the spot. Sometimes you need that one guy in the fire team who’s a d# and talks a lot of smack to rain verbal hell on some mid tier performing would be elitist snob. I’ve seen them before. Another thing is, many of these people aren’t use to confrontation, even in the Reality. In fact, it is entirely possible many of these individuals first bout with confrontation takes place completely online. It’s remarkable to say the least, however I won’t go further into the specifics. All kinds of variables start to pop up on the wider mental implications of gamers in either anti social or socially diluted circles. I’m starting to see more, “Be chill” post. As for LFG, when people say those acronyms, I assume they are talking about actual LFG site? Unless it’s just something people lump into together as one? “Fireteam” on the Bungie app is pretty decent. Seems like nothing but decent Bungie/Destiny folk. I’ve never had any problems and only ever walked away with Friends request and loot.

That’s why I only run events with my own clan. LFG can be a bit hit and miss in finding suitable people with patience. How many posts have seen with KWTD. Or be kicked. It’s a new raid if I knew I wouldn’t be asking. I’m an admin for Lost Legion group of adult members 21+ only, we are all chill group and always enjoy learning and teaching others in new activities Destiny has to offer. I suggest you find an easy going group like us and join. Good luck.

Read your post my friend, agreed with it, then I gazed at some of the elitist replies from certain sad sacks who basically tried to negate your point. You'll get the raid done, don't sweat it. Unfortunately you'll also have to deal with pond life along the way. This game is something like a lab experiment petri dish, its got something in it, Bungie adds a little something and then stands back and watches as elitist pox developes. On a personal level, I haven't ventured into Vault yet, for some reason I just ain't got the buzz. Maybe its the fact that cheap boys Bungie are probably the laziest, most complacent bunch of ass hats to ever produce a viable game and then destroy it through greed. You bring back old content with few tweaks then bring back the whole planet with a few tweaks. That's what should have happened.

Hey man we did the same thing for a group of 3 took some time to get everyone on the same page. But we helped them beat atheon and everyone’s happy. if you don’t call people out on critical errors people won’t change, that means you gotta pick up relic or call out/shoot oracles, stay off the ground when supplicants are out, jump out of middle when you’re detained. These are all things you need to do. Don’t take it personally some people are legit trying to help.

[/quote] You are describing something which unfortunately can be common with completely random people. Thankfully I've only had good experiences with people from my clan and the Discord channels I am in. They are pretty well-organised, respectful and while quite patient, after a certain threshold they won't bother anymore with toxic, elitist and other people that are willingly not cooperating and learning. On top of that, toxicity can be found everywhere & at anytime - it would certainly not be a reason for it to stop existing.

OG VoG was honestly hard to stay awake through. The new changes are actually kinda neat. LFG is always completely awful though, so there’s nothing surprising there.

The worst and best issue with raiding is the people you raid with. You might get people that are good and know what to do or you might get kids that never stop talking and complain causing you to wipe while blaming others. Raids will always have this problem. That’s why 10% of the player base engages with is regularly. I feel like in D1 the overall player base was better. Now you have a ton of potatoes everywhere.

Edited by Stark: 5/25/2021 5:29:54 AMThe toxicity is born out of sheer frustration. Constant fails, fails while atheon is 1 shot, lack of knowledge and mechanics and being a jerk in general. I had 4 raid teams back to back that can’t do it. I was mad frustrated and when I did get 1 clear after that I got a chest piece which got me even more upset. But I believe this is where all the toxicity comes from my experience and my opinion.
