The toxicity of lfg VoG teams

It’s bad enough the changes they made with the oracles but the toxicity and elitism of people in these lfg groups is unbelievable. My clan was short 2 guys so we ended up using lfg and found some people to fill the spots. These 2 guys said they had an Atheon checkpoint and ask if we could start there and they’d help us with the beginning parts after so we agreed. Now this was our very first time in the raid learning everything and these guys had already played and made it to Atheon. So we start and their we a few mistakes but after a while we were getting the hang of stuff. All of a sudden these guys say um I don’t think we will get this done the damage isn’t enough. Now these guys were putting out similar to less damage than everyone else and were making mistakes as well. They just continued to be negative and no longer wanted to help anymore. It’s just ridiculous how people just don’t have the patience anymore to figure out where the mistakes lie, correct it and keep pushing. They rather be negative, create tension and anxiety. People want to beat the raid just as badly as these elitist pricks. Thus why raid should’ve stayed the same as it was in D1 and challenge mode should’ve had the changes.

  • Sadly this is why many people don’t do raids Including myself Used to do raids all the time in d1 D2 people make ya feel like do you don’t do it when it’s new you shouldn’t do it at all But it’s vog So duck them I know the raid better, of course mechanics are different but still I have the experience I’ve even 2 manned it, so just need to learn these new mechanics

  • Some lfg teams are like that, some aren't. Depends on the people at the time unfortunately.

  • You have to understand it is week one of a new raid, ppl will quit if they see no promising progress. I have over 480 raid clears and know when a raid boss fight is dying or just not going anywhere. There are ppl like that. LFG these days is just kwtd and fast activities. In my experience I stay away from LFG especially on week 1.

  • That’s exactly the reason lfg sucks and whenever I post about just add a matchmaking option for everything and I get attacked by the community saying “every hear of lfg?” Yeah no shit and I’ve sat on lfg for an hour or more trying to get picked up but I don’t have the weapon they want me to use or I haven’t ran it enough times or I need some mod. It’s always some ridiculous requirements these morons want.

    • 1. There was Nothing "Elitist" about what you Described. 2. 2 people who have a Boss checkpoint Suggested to do that, Then they'd Help with the Beginning. You could have said "No, we really want to Start from the Beginning*(You've stated it took some time to understand the mechanics)* as we want to learn*( Every Encounter Teaches you how to do Finale Boss)* so we know what to do at Finale Boss". Your Group Decided to waste time. If anything.....y'all wasted your Time.

      • All anyone asks of anyone in a raid is to NOT make the same mistake Twice! or Trice! Repeat offenders are frustrating and frustration leads to anger. Call it toxic or whatever you want it's a fact! I won't raid in D2. I have found LFG's, Clans and people in general to be toxic AF. I've been flying solo since Shadowkeep and have enjoyed the game immensely since then. I must admit thou I'm not liking the direction Destiny 2 is heading in and play other games as well. I USE Destiny 2 as a stop gap now and entertainment. If the entertainment dies so does the game for me.

If asking for competent people and for people to do their part is toxic tham I guess litteraly anyone who raids or do hard content is toxic to you. Sorry but nobody wants to sit in a raid for hours and definitely not the same encounter with no progress repetition fatigue set in and people get upset. This game is going to the point that subpar people are just not wanted, needed, and definitely not considered. Only the best of the best at this point or run your own group. Nobody wants to explain an entire raid when there are videos or teach grown azz men who were smart enough to swipe their card to buy the game but not watch a video. Your situation is too common and most would react the same way to those completely unprepared and obviously lacking. The blues in this game are just that bad now.

            • and thats another reason LFG is a trash system~ Add sound queues with matchmaking, no need for LFG. Make the worlds first people do it without just to make it a challenge, then everyone else can play without the sentient rear ends that are LFG snobs.

                • I had a big issue with LFG this week, but that’s not the fault of bungie. That’s entirely on the community and for what it’s worth; I’ve never made posts that asked people to “KWTD” when it comes to raids I know myself. Returning raid or new raid, all I ask is that people speak clearly & communicate as a team. I can sharpa anyone so long as they’re willing to follow along & get the job done..! :-)

It's because this game's grind is so extensive that people don't have time for anything. Back in Y1 it was lighter, less intense. These days? Different structure. Don't have time, got season challenges to do.

As someone who doesn't like the raid changes but wanted to see how bad it was for myself... You have made me consider that LFG is a bad idea as usual due to raider elitists.

                • I haven't raided since... I think the first leviathan raid lair. Raided all the time back in d1. The difference? The players. Groups back in the day would never take raids seriously. All chill, jokes flying everywhere, get er done. Now, just look at the small fraction we see here. I've encountered so very many of these nasty players while trying to raid in d2 back then, and it appears to not be getting any better. Good lord. I am glad I don't raid now. Hell, I am glad I dont play d2 now. The players seem to have drained the fun right out of it.

                  • If it wasn’t for the oracle changes I don’t think lfg would be that bad with vog. It’s bungies fault though. They brought back vog and it’s supposed to be an introductory raid but the way they have changed it will ultimately push people away from it

                    • Being impatient doesn’t automatically mean they’re toxic. I’d get a little impatient too if I was running the same section for an hour and getting nowhere. If they didn’t feel it was going to work and wanted to go on their own way, that’s fine. If they were running their mouths off and trash talking, that’s totally different. However, toxicity is and has always been a huge problem in Destiny going all the way back to the first raids and even nightfalls. So many people expect perfection right out of the gate, and that’s almost never the case. I haven’t played for some time now and simply came back to the forum to get a feel for the current state. But when I was playing all the time, I found that the easiest way to sift through these types is to be as transparent in your lfg post as possible. That way, if someone responds to a post from a bunch of players on their first run, they already know what they’re getting into and will likely be more patient.

                    • precision in execution of mechanics and revive tokens do not make people want to teach raids. i've seen more post on LFG section willing to teach DSC rather than LW or GoS.

                        • I'll let you in on a secret. I used to do Sherpa runs back in the D1 days and early D2 days. I would Sherpa 5 newbies, not 1 or 2 guys, but 5 NEW guys who haven't done the raid or haven't cleared it yet. For FREE!!! No attachments whatsoever, I don't even stream or do youtube. BEST FEELING I've ever had in all my Destiny experiences!!! Best feeling ever! I've done a lot of raids, and I've played with some of the really good raiders of the community. But nothing beats bringing 5 NEW guys that haven't done the raid at all, and then clear it! BEST FEELING EVER!!! I don't play anymore because I don't like what happened to D2 when Activision left. The last time I did a Sherpa to 5 NEW guys was with my clan on Garden of Salvation, complete with Divinity run and a clear, to 5 newbies! I did this a lot for the community back in the day. For FREE, without attachments or any recognition. Because I knew there are a lot of gamers who wanted to do it, but are discouraged because of the toxicity of the community. And I was right! Gamers want to do the raid, they want to learn it, and they want to participate in it, if only somebody would guide them through it, without strings attached. Here's a tip, I don't go in to Sherpa and be the hero. I avoid hero moments when I Sherpa. I'm in accademics. I know how it works. Don't give food to a hungry nation, instead teach and show them how to make food, and they'll never grow hungry. Same with this. Don't Sharpa and carry new guys. Instead, teach them how to do it, give them roles and let them own it. That's how we make the community stronger and better raiders. That's how I do it. That's how I'll always do it. I don't play anymore not because of community, but because direction of the game has gone into milking cow schemes. I went back to playing D1. If you want community to be better, it's your turn to change it or make a change with it. Good luck guardians! Peace!
