What’s interesting is oracles were in pattern, even back then, but you could kill them out of order. I don’t get why they had to change it either, and it was a very unnecessary change.

  • Because back then, the only communication you needed was "open this gate", then it was DPS. For a boss fight, such few communication is very lame. Its why alot of endgame players didnt like DSC for being so braindead. Eventually we figured out we could skip the communication part and just 4 ball it based on where he is position. Quick run, no talking needed, get your loot. Such a casual experience should not be considered as "winning as a team."

  • My response here was to Oracles encounter, not to Atheon encounter.

That in arises another problem. Because you could kill them out of order, meant no one was talking to each other. I saw why they had to revamp oracles encounter in order to atleast accommodate 2-3 people talking. Obviously youre mad because you actually have to put in work and communication.

I corrected you on what my post was about, and you doubled down on your nonsense, ESPECIALLY with your last line. I literally was talking about that OG VoG had oracles in a specific pattern. The literal only difference is the fact that you need to kill them in that order now. That is it. My god people just want to push narratives so badly, they just make 💩 up now.

  • You were questioning why they had to change Oracles and give it a specific order and I gave you an answer to that: to create communication and teamwork. OG Vog had little to no communication up until Atheon. You could have done all encounters without talking to any of your teammates. Sounds easy, but it creates bad synergy and the wrong impression of a raid. Raids should be about working and talking to your teammates. I and many others welcome the change. A challenge was given to us and we rose to meet its standard.

No, my thoughts as to why they require the kill to be in exact order now is 2 fold. 1) that it should have been that way in the first place, as it was patterned in the same way. Though that was not the case when they updated it in ROI, so it’s odd to change it now. 2) to help to alleviate people using the old Icebreaker strategy to cheese it. Not that it will work to alleviate it, but I could see that reasoning I may not agree with forcing the specific kill pattern, but I can see why they did it, and it’s not that detrimental. But I am an old vet and Sherpa of the OG one with 70+ clears, so what may be simple to me may not be for newer players.

  • Agreed. It’s not a big deal to experienced players who have learned the pitches and locations...and have experience in Challenge mode with shooting Oracles in order. So this is a change that will not make it that much more difficult to someone like me. But it is going to be a really nasty barrier to new players. Who will have the burden of trying to learn the fights, stay alive, and learn how to shoot oracles in a specific sequence. Especially if the don’t have the ear to hear that each spawn location has its own tone associated with it.... ...and no one tells them.

  • It seems much of the issue with oracles is spun around Atheon's fight specifically too. The oracles before and during the Templar fight are pretty straightforward when you know the locations and the ads aren't too problematic (unless you're taking to long to kill the Templar of course). Atheon, on the other hand, seems a little too close for comfort even when you're experienced since oracles don't give you a whole lot of time to react and the outside team already has to deal with Supplicants mixed with Harpies.

I also think that there are a vocal minority of vets that were Icebreaker Cheesers, for which I think this change was majority for. It’s a slight tweak, but it will stonewall newer players and those who cannot hear the tones very well. I wonder if that is where a majority of the rage for it is, but who knows. When/if I run the new one, knowing me I’ll probably call it the old way: L1, L2, L hidden, R1, R2, R hidden, and middle. Makes it easy to teach the encounter, and properly call out the pattern for newer players. I used to show the exact spawn points too, so they knew the locations of each one.

  • That’s how the team I ran with yesterday handled it. But it was an experienced group and the whole raid ran very smoothly.

  • I think every vet has Icebreakered it a couple of times at least. It was just kind of a thing until Dark Below and we were overleveled enough to where it was unnecessary

  • I think I had to do it 2 or three times, and it was the most boring ass crap, same as the “No Knight” kings fall strategy. I used it as an example of maybe why they changed the oracles to require a specific kill order now, instead of killing them in any order in the pattern. That’s all.
