People wanting a Mythoclast buff

I dont have it myself yet. But based on the feedback ive seen from multiple content creators. Mythoclast isnt the strongest option for anything atm (not that it'd stop me from using it). ... I have a idea for a buff that would give it a place in the game without being so good that its broken. Give its base auto rifle style fire overload rounds. Then give the linear fusion shots anti barrier. ... Imo these two things would get it play time due to versatility without it being "too strong"

  • Should of made it equivalent to a 260 Rapid Fire Scout Rifle instead of an AR.

      • if it got a buff, then it would be broken on any Titan using the new boots (name escapes me) in pvp.

        • I think it needs just a standard damage buff. The alternate fire is good but building the stacks and killing ads just takes too long even in low level content.

        • It's a 360 Auto Rifle without any of the range and a cool linear fusion gimmick that suffers from the same "charge disappearing upon stowing it" as Tarrabah.

          It’s fun to use, but it either needs a range boost (currently only useful in smg ranges) or a dmg buff.

          The gun has an identity issue. It is as if Bungie tried to balance it around being a Fusion Rifle (so they didn't want to over tune it), but a 360 RPM AR and Linear Fusion, but it's stats are 360 AR which affects it's range and stability thus making the Linear Shot useless at long engagements which doesn't match the Role layout they came up with themselves. The gun doesn't need to be strong, just viable. It's currently not worth the exotic slot or occupying the energy slot.

        • The biggest part of the weapon that needs the buff is the linear fusion mode, it doesn't do enough damage to warrant the 820 charge time at all. If they don't want to give it a flat damage boost then at least up the crit multiplier by quite a bit.

        • I think it needs just a flat damage increase and a bump in stability cause that thing kicks quite bad especially on controller. The Catalyst is nice but is simply a buff for the Linear Fusion shots that it can shoot wheras the buff needs to be for the primary fire. Still I can’t believe we live in a reality where Vex Mythoclast is weaker than Tarrabah and even then Tarrabah is good because it’s basically a legendary SMG with the exotic balls and whistles.

        • honest I think bungie is bat shit afraid of having a D1 repeat, guess the gun was made for PVE, we dont really need an auto rifle that can turn into an arbalist

        • I think the best change they could do is make it so charges stay indefinitely, and the stability from the catalyst affects the normal fire not the linear fusion fire. this isnt a tarrabah situation it wont be op if it keeps charges.

        • The auto rifle archetype itself is honestly what sucks about it, bungie should increase the damage of all 360 auto rifles. I remember back in D1, vex was able to get 4 headshot kills and it had rampage (was called crowd control). If bungie gives vex rampage again and make it so 360 auto rifles only require 4 headshots like it did in D1, the archetype and vex overall would be much better. I know some of you are scared of an auto only needing 4 headshots for kills but understand the range for 360’s are not the greatest and nowhere near a pulse rifle and their fire rate is extremely slow. The slower a weapon fires, the more damage it needs to do per shot right? Its common sense. If you think about it, suros basically becomes a 360 in its slow fire mode, it shoots just as fast as a scout rifle but obviously without the range of a scout but takes less flinch when used on its expected range. The problem with auto rifles overall is even though their fire rate is the same as a scout, their damage does not make up for it. Idk who does the balancing at bungie but all they gotta do is make the dps of the underperforming archetypes the same as D1. Vex should kill in 4 headshots again, the range on that thing is what made it balanced.

          • I got i with the catalyst it needs a buff it’s trash in pvp until u get the stability from the perk and in pve the catalyst is literally useless, and when fate bringer exists from the same raid and is easier to get the is no reason to use vex It needs a buff

          • In D1 it was more on par with a D2 lightweight frame scout. In all fairness this isnt the 1st bad raid exotic, remember tarrabah.

              • For me it needs exactly one buff. Letting you store charges [i]UNTIL[/i] you enter linear fusion mode. Once you enter LF mode, use it or lose it. But you should be able to build up charges without losing them. (Think Hawkmoon, you can store the stacks until you’re actually on the final shot)

                I feel like a slight damage buff would make it feel better. Ttk is just too high. Plus being able to store the charges would be great.

                • That wouldn't do much. The problem i find it has in PvE is a lack of lethality. It needs something to make it shread enemies.

                  I mean, there's nothing wrong with a fun gun. Not every gun has to be super powerful. But, I think a raid exotic should be a little bit of both. For Vex, I think the catalyst should make it to where stowing it doesn't remove overcharge stacks and you can toggle off the linear fusion mode without sacrificing all of the stacks, in addition to what it does currently. Right now if you swap to linear mode, fire once, and toggle off, all stacks are gone. Kinda stupid honestly.

                • Vex is tricky. It’s one of those weapons that a slight buff makes it really strong. You also have to consider that it’s linear fusion rifle capabilities makes it pair well with primary shotguns. If they buff Vex even just barely I think it will run rampant.

                • I suck but I was getting far more guardian kills than usual in PvP and Gambit with the Vex + cat. Seems fine. Yeah it's not the 3 tap it was in D1, but it works better than the version that was nerfed. IDK user experience may vary.
