Valve showed off a portable system to play steam games today.
It honestly looks alright, but I'll wait for release to see how the hardware works with games I want to play.
It's also isn't locked down so you can install windows or probably emulator's

I think cooling may be an issue. There were issues with the Nintendo Switch cooling, that's an ARM processor like what is in your phone and tablet. The Steam Deck will have an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor. Even laptops have poor cooling performance. They have more area for heat dissipation than the handheld form factor would. I expect cooling issues. We'll just have to wait and see.
