We are now over 72 hours, 3 days, of many people on Win10/8/7 being completely unable to even get to the main menu or play at all, no matter what attempted fixes they try. No sign of a daily-reset-scheduled hotfix today. Last hotfix I am aware of was Thursday. [b]I am unable to edit my previous thread[/b], so... here we are. [b]If I could have[/b], I would have e.g. edited the previous thread to indicate it had at least been added to Known Issues, etc.
[b]Guardians:[/b] Things to mention in your reply, specific to the computer you run Destiny 2 on: Which OS are you running? Laptop or desktop? Did you already have Battleye installed before the first Season of the Lost download? Do you play a lot of other high-end games that might have installed a fix or something that caused problems? Do you have any software development software (e.g. SDKs/IDEs/etc) installed? Please remember to inform Bungie of anything you find that might help them fix it, and help keep the issue visible until you can play again. More individual Guardians consistently reminding Bungie they're still unable to play should put us closer to the top of Bungie's priorities for a fix, and that's what we need.
[b]Bungie:[/b] The Thursday hotfix [b]did not change anything[/b] regarding this bug for anyone, as far as I can tell, and [u]I have not seen any Bungie acknowledgement of that fact [b]yet[/b][/u], nor have I seen any sort of ETA for a fix or even when to check back for an [b]ETA of a fix.[/b] [i]Even just a "won't be fixed before next week" would be better than nothing,[/i] and it's very much looking like no one affected by this bug will be able to play [b]all weekend.[/b] Given the severity of the bug, I am explicitly asking that [b]Bungie[/b] provide [u]daily updates on progress or lack thereof for this bug.[/u] Leaving it at an open-ended "investigating" is inadequate for a bug of this severity. Otherwise there will naturally continue to be hundreds of increasingly unsatisfied people who can no longer play the game milling around the forums looking for news. That's not good for anyone and it is preventable, even if it would require management to adjust their policies (that e.g. restrict what representatives are allowed to say, or what information is given to them to relay to us) to do so. It's time to improve communication re:this bug. Please give us a specific URL, like a Bungie-created thread, that is updated at least daily with progress or at least a specific acknowledgement that the bug still affects a substantial portion of the userbase after the latest hotfixes. When the game fails to even run for days on end, the Known Issues thread is insufficient unless the line is updated in more detail daily so we know e.g. that you know a hotfix didn't work.
This is especially bad after all the season hype leading up to a massive shock disappointment for hundreds or thousands of Guardians of not being able to play the hyped content, or ANY Destiny 2 content at all. Bungie management needs to do better at providing the resources and freedom to workers to avoid situations like this. Also note that the entire seasonal/vault model with content being available only for limited periods makes this situation even more unacceptable. If we knew when we could get back in, or that we could just come back in a year and not miss out on the content, that would help. Bungie executives: Do better. Pete Parsons: Do better.

See I'm in a weirder spot than most. I never got an error message or missing file notice. It would just straight up shut down my PC. I'd have to turn my PSU off manually before I could even turn my PC back on. Genuinely thought my PC was bricked. It's at a shop and they're running a diagnostic on both hard drives (one is an SSD) my ram and GPU VRAM. After downloading the newest update from steam my PC became essentially a brick. It wouldn't even let me do the recovery hard drive wipe thing you can do with windows 10. The only other recent download was F1 2021, a windows update and a GPU driver update from AMD. I've previously never had so much as a weasel error code on PC so whatever the problem is it's much worse for some. This update will have cost me 150$ by Monday

I've had zero problems this season. I feel bad for the people that have. I'm running Windows 10 Pro. Have already done half the season pass. So no issues here.

again i gotta stress that the battleeye issues have been seen in other games but they resolve the launch ones early cuz they do actual beta testing like even breakpoint caught this in beta and resolved it, and while some ossies like denuvo levels of performance decrease are never resolved just because its battleeye. The majority of players should not suffer just because of 1 sub mode and bungie trying to escape responsibility for handling security by strapping a third rate anti (player) cheat software to the game, moreover you should not need to run it to play PVE content or hell anything but trials. We were not asked for battleeye that spyware like POS and the whole introduction of it feels like a last minute thing they did to dodge responsiblity #RemoveBattleeyeD2

Hi everybody! I am the same win7 user who is having problems with the game and looking for a solution on my own. So I tested the game on win7,8,10 home and pro. Win7 and 8 - the game does not start due to the absence of a mysterious file, which is available only in win 10. Manual installation of the libraries does not help. Win10 home х64 - the game does not start. Gives a potato error or checking the integrity of the game files. win 10 pro x64 - the game started the first time. With win10 home - I had to tinker (literally danced with a tambourine), but still I was able to start the game. I'm playing with win10 pro now. The game is raw, there are a lot of lags. P.S. my personal opinion is that the changes made to the game are not tested by anyone at all. Bunge will primarily address lag issues in the game. Since there are always a lot of errors in the game, we, ordinary players and users with win7, will have to wait for the correction of errors for more than one year (we all remember videos from 3 frames per second). The best Windows is win7.

Win 7 - Desktop PC - installed BattleEye when prompted after updating Destiny 2 on Tuesday 24th, been unable to launch game at all since the new season update, whenever I try to launch I only get an error message saying there is a missing file, but it does not state which file is missing x

Cant launch D2 since new seson, sadly. My latest download was DOOM 2016 in steam, because I want to get 100% copletion in main camaign after watching 100% nigthmare run on GDQ (missed couple levers for classic DOOM levels) About a month ago i started collecting augments for beyond light seal and this week i planned to obtain sixth augment. Now I mentally preparing to accept that I need to wait another two months for full completion. So, so sad. Shocked to see almost 400 people cant launch the game. Hope this situation will be resolve soon. (Sorry for my english)

Destiny 2 is still not working. And in vain I praised Battleye, again anti-cheat gives out Blocked loading of file: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Crypto Pro\AppCompat\cpwinet.dll". I have strange associations with the number 2077.

This thread is NOT fully answered, the bug is still affecting thousands of players. Marking an answer should be saved for when the bug is fixed. It interferes with updating the community by blocking edits and shows disrespect for all those adversely affected. As such, we're gonna need a new megathread. Again. If anyone feels like doing the honors, please keep up with the topic and be ready to edit your thread while you can to keep the community updated, especially if it makes it to Monday. You can use the "Start Topic" at the bottom of this thread's original post to autolink it to here which will make it much easier for people to find and thus more likely to reach the front page to replace this one. Consider including a catalog like I have here, or at least a backlink to this thread, as well as tags like #SeasonOfTheLostFile #MissingFile, which you have to edit in after creation. A suggestion for poll question: "Are you or someone you want to fireteam with unable to play Season of the Lost?"

Guys, I have a solution, I just updated the system to Win 10 ( Win 7 pro x64 → Win 10 pro x64 ). All works fine) I didn't even have to download the update. I agree, it will not work for everyone, but I'm tired of waiting for Bungie to solve the problem Good luck everyone

I want to open my game and I get this in Steam "The program cannot be started because it is missing from the computer. Try reinstalling the program to correct this problem." I have deleted the whole game and reinstalled it and everything is still just as bad. Hello I had the idea to make a pre-order, but now I'm starting to think that it was a very bad idea. After the update, the game has never started, Anti-cheat suspects Crypto About CSP in something suspicious. I wrote to BattlEye so far I have not received anything intelligible in response. The game itself displays a window with the message: "The program cannot be started, because there is no program on the computer . Try reinstalling the program." What is missing is unknown. I'm beginning to suspect that BUNGiE has EFFECTIVE MANAGERS. Help me get back the game (Destiny 2) for which I paid money. 29.08.2021 20:30 When launching via Steam, the anti-cheat message no longer appears, but the game still does not start. Neither on Windows 7, nor on Windows 10. I don't know, maybe the guys in Battleye have fixed something and now Crypto Pro is not considered a cheat program. If so, then honor and praise to them. 1. Win7 x64 SP1 2. Desktop PC 3. No 4. No 5. No I play through Steam, didn't do anything with the game files except checking the integrity of the files in the Steam and reinstalling the game. Unable to play because Destiny 2 began to require the missing dll files: api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll and api-ms-win-core-psm-appnotify-l1-1-0.dll, after providing them to the game, the error 0xc000007b appeared. I have already tried updating, rebooting, and cleaning the computer from viruses

My friends who are on windows 10 home are getting serious issues as well crashes mainly though a couple have the same cant even launch game error.

Same issue on windows 10, never had crashes before in the past. I can't do anything in game, every 5 or 10 minutes it stutters, crashes and then closes without an on-screen error code. I have tried every single work around I could find online to no avail. Disappointed as I was hoping to spend the bank holiday weekend playing the new season.

So, I've not had any crashes (knock on wood) (I guess lucky me), but I've been dropping frames like crazy. I know Bungie did say BattleEye causes a reduction in performance, but nothing else has been said about a fix or anything. PC specs: i7-7700 | GTX 1070 | 16GB Ram | Windows 10 Home 21H1 | Nvidia Driver 471.68

Failure to launch the game After the season update I have been getting a BSOD (each time with a different reason why), and after the 2nd or 3rd time steam will remove the game from my list and I have to reinstall (after it see that the files are there). Here what I have done. 1. full wipe of PC 2. Updated Win10 3. Updated all drivers including graphic driver 4. Only installed Steam and D2 After doing that (took all of last night), I fired up D2 and it did load, but crashed/froze with in 2 mins, and after that the next retry went back to the BSOD. PC Specs I7-8700 16 gigs of ram Windows 10 version 21H1 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 (driver version 471.68) I also have install another game and it has no problems running at all. At this point I'm at my wits end, and feel down that I paid for a season that I not able to play.
