This is something relatively new, but I've been watching streamers on twitch having auto subtitles options for their streams and thought why not auto subtitling for the in game fireteam chat.
I'm a Deaf player on destiny and I can mostly manage a conversation with my clanmates on the headset as well as communication in in game activities. However I still miss aspects of conversations, asking people to repeat stuff and after a long session I'm just wiped from the strain of having to focus on listening.
Destiny is a highly social game with a great community but being deaf does put a hamper on that and blocks people from accessing end game content that requires a team.
Yes there are deaf teams who have gone through raids and there are kind enough people who will take the time and ensure a deaf teammate can participate but this will help remove some of the basic barriers of communication in-game earlier rather than hop around till they find a suitable group to play with.
It'll be groundbreaking should a game like destiny implement it across the board! Consoles ect.
