You paid for a license to play their game, they can do as they please with it, also they've outlined quite nicely why they vaulted content, I was against it too but it makes sense and will only make the game better

  • It became my game when they took my money and said during a live event on video that it was all of our games. That's how capitalism works.

  • Wrong, it's their game to change and control, you're just a visitor

  • No it didn't. ...and he is right. You signed a contract (by the fact that you can't play the game without doing so) where you agreed that you were buying a license. That you had no ownership rights to the game. And that "The game" would change and access to any of its components would be time-limited. You signed a contract that stated all of this VERY clearly. I suspect that you signed it without actually READING it.

Can you show us where in the agreement it says "access to any of its components would be time-limited"? I've seen mentions of events, achievements and seasonal content so far, but not that everything is time-limited. Also, it says the following:
Fees charged for time-limited content are based on access to the applicable content during the time period indicated at the time of purchase
What time period was mentioned when people purchased the base game, Forsaken and Shadowkeep, if they were always meant to be time-limited? Even Beyond Light has no set time period or mention that it is time-limited.

I’ve posted it on another thread. And Bungie only agreed to make “reasonable efforts” to notify. I think giving us almost 6 months warning that three year-old content will be vaulted is reasonable.

  • Nice of you to say which thread.
Where season pass Live Content is time-limited, Bungie will use reasonable efforts to communicate this to you within the Program or otherwise.
followed by
Fees charged for time-limited content are based on access to the applicable content during the time period indicated at the time of purchase, and apply whether or not you actually access the content.
shows that your "I think giving us almost 6 months warning that three year-old content will be vaulted is reasonable" doesn't apply. At no point has the base game or expansions had a notification during purchase that they are time-limited and there has been no indication in-game that this content is time-limited.

  • Have YOU actually read this? Please show us where they state that content from the base game or expansions has a possible time limit? It only talks about participation in events, achievements and then the rest is about time-limited seasonal content.
Bungie will use reasonable efforts to communicate this to you within the Program or otherwise
and
Fees charged for time-limited content are based on access to the applicable content during the time period indicated at the time of purchase
This is about informing the buyer that what they are about to purchase has a time limit. Where did Bungie ever mention that content from the base game or expansions before Beyond Light had a time limit? You can still buy Forsaken without any mention that it will be free in December and that parts of the content will be removed next February. There is no mention of this in the game either. Do you think it's reasonable to expect that everyone who buys Forsaken today has read Bungie news articles first (and this doesn't even apply to the purchases done before the DCV announcements)?

  • Notice how it says “within the Program or otherwise” otherwise being their news announcements. It is not the fault of bungie if the player does not pay attention to news about the product and contract they blindly agreed too

  • Reading through years of news announcements before purchase isn't reasonable in my opinion. Besides the news was announced last week and the first mention of DCV was last year, what about the purchases before that? No news articles to be found about removal of content. You keep mentioning the agreement/contract, but where does it say that everything can be removed as you and some others keep posting? I'm getting the feeling you don't actually know what the agreement says, you're just repeating what someone else has said without checking. What you posted previously directly says that Bungie will indicate at the time of purchase that the content is time-limited, which they have not done for non seasonal content.

  • It is in the agreement we all signed and keep signing at purchase, and at the start of big updates

I did find the section, weird that you didn't post that.
Live Content may be altered, removed, deleted, or discontinued by Bungie at any time (e.g., upon termination of this Agreement and/or cessation of online support for the Program), even if you have not “used” or “consumed” the Live Content prior to alteration, removal, deletion, or discontinuation.
Though the examples are nothing like what Bungie is now using as an excuse and it is kind of contradicted by:
Bungie may change and update Online Services or Live Content without notice to you (provided always that any such changes do not result in material degradation in the functionality of the Program or any Live Content which has been paid-for with real money).
