This is more of a rant than anything else.
Beginning of Crucible Rant
Titan Barricades are the worst class ability in the game in my opinion and they need some work. The entire point of the Tower Barricade is to be a wall that can defend you, in Crucible, there are just too many flaws to make them competitve compared to Hunter dodge and Warlock rift. First, they can be destroyed which isn't that big of an issue, but rifts are indestructible. This would be fine considering that Tower Barricades prevent all damage passing through them... OH WAIT THEY DON'T. A solar or void grendade has the ability to damage you when you are behind the barricade if it is on the other side, making Barricades even easier to combat from the front. Extending the barricade into the ground was a step in the right direction, but not quite enough to have the wall act like... a wall... The most painfully annoying thing about the barricade in Crucible is that glacier grenades (of course) shatter on contact with the barricade. This would be ok except they also damage you, and what's worse is that glacier grenades (when thrown at a barricade) will create crystals on the backside of the barricade, freezing the hiding titan THEN insta-killing them because the barricade shatters the newly formed crystal. All this is to say that the only thing I want, the single improvement that would make Titan Barricades redeemed in my eyes, IS FOR THEM TO ACT LIKE A WALL, DON'T LET ANYTHING THROUGH, splash-damage, crystal, grenade sphere, or otherwise.
End Of Crucible Rant
Outside of Crucible, Titan Barricades are fine and serve their purpose well, so maybe we could ACTUALLY GET SOME EXOTICS RELATIVE TO OUR CLASS ABILITY PLEASE BUNGO POR FLAVOR. Warlocks have like 6-7 exotics that relate to rifts, hunter's have 6-7 related to their dodge, and Titan's have 2 (Citan's and Khepri's), maybe 3 if you want to count Crest of Alpha Lupi (Icefall Mantle just replaces it so I don't really count that). There are so many ideas that I can think of to make Barricades more exotic without breaking them, I'm sure the dev team can come up with better ones. Barricades could really use some loving, ESPECIALLY Rally Barricade, I could have a whole different rant on why Rally Barricade is just pointless and awful now.
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH BARRICADES, THE SINGLE THING YOU SHOULD TAKE AWAY FROM THIS IF NOTHING ELSE IS THAT BARRICADES HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO SUBCLASS INTEGRATION! Subclass trees for warlock and hunter can affect their rifts and dodges respectively, some effects that come to mind are Arc Souls and Invisibility, or the Combination Blow integration for repeated melee and dodge for hunters. Titans have absolutely ZERO in the way of subclass alteration of the barricade, much less synergy/integration. Even with Stasis, warlocks have an aspect that can slow/freeze with rift cast, hunter's have an aspect that can slow with dodge, and titan's have zilch, zero, nada for barricade. If the CLASS ABILITY for titans is going to continue to be the Barricade, at least make it an integral part of subclasses, or else it really doesn't feel all that special of an ability when it is completely the same with no buffs AT ALL across the subclass board.
Rant over. Please at least consider the points I've made and try to understand the overall issue raised (mainly last paragraph) by parsing through my bolds and CAPS lock statements. (Or don't, I'm not your boss) This is above all else constructive criticism, I love the game and will continue to play happily whether this is addressed or not.
Thanks

Edited by PrivateGiggles: 10/24/2021 10:16:42 AMYou speak the truth. Icefall mantle should be an aspect, change my mind. Give it a penalty to resilience to keep the recharge rate within reason if necessary. Remove the speed debuff too. Hunter dodge breaks aim assist and is around 20-30s recharge on average, and warlocks heal and generate overshield in a rift; so why can't titans get a non-regenerating overshield in place of the class ability? Class integration doesn't have to be complex either. Here you go on sunspots subclass: placing your barricade creates a sunspot behind the barricade. Opens up Citan's play, opens up rally barricade play. Bam. Kapow. I am a game designer.
