Lightfall/The Final Shape is a far way off right? Well, what would you ideally want in the final race to be presented if you could fight them tomorrow?
My list for these beings would be simple:
Mysterious
Polar opposite to light guardians
Mysterious. I want them to be filled with surprise after surprise that makes me change how I have fought any other enemy. Like the Taken for the first time (replicating psions was a brilliant move honestly).
Polar opposite to light guardians. I want them to have a weapon or ability to suppress light-based capabilities which is why we have lost against them for so long or lore implications for destroying their items of interest (like a destabilization effect which makes them more primal or stronger or both- think brutes from Halo when enraged).
What would your list include?

I imagine it'll be the Taken or some Darkness entity. Xivu will likely be Lightfall as thats the logical next step after Witch Queen (especially with Xivu being brought to the fore this year). A personal theory of mine is that Calus will be some kind of Darkness entity in the future, perhaps even a vessel for The Entity, and that'll be one of the final bosses. Perhaps Eramis returns too, thawed and possessed by the Darkness to act as another champion. I doubt the Vex will be too relevant tbh as they simply choose survival at the end of the day. Plus we've already crippled their Darkness division in the Black Garden and removed the only prominent plot-relevant named Vex in recent years: Quria.

Whatever it is, I just wanna see Variks kick *ss. I rest my case.

Boredom. One Gambit map, PvP map, Strike, story mission, lost sector, public event. Plus one never-completing bounty/quest. Endless variations of Trials match-making.

I think its too soon to predict. Also The Taken are really the "polar opposite" of Guardians. Guardians are the chosen dead who are brought back to life by the Light of the Traveler, then given the choice of whether to be protectors of the Living. The Taken are those who are snatched from life without their consent, and then returned to the Living World as these mindless killing machines by the Darkness. Slaves to War and Death under the will of someone else.

The Final Shape is simply the end goal of the Darkness and it’s minions, it’s not a designated enemy race. Sword Logic states that a species must stake their claim on existence by seeking to end that of others before they can end them, with the Final Shape being the endpoint of that philosophy. Once the main candidate for this position was the Hive, with Oryx assuming the mantle of Champion of the Deep. However we changed things when we killed Oryx, albeit not as we were meant to but still. Now the Darkness has taken an interest in Guardians, seeking to get us to agree with its philosophy. Which in fairness to it, before this year should’ve been easy on paper given the fact we’ve essentially been following the Sword Logic since our resurrection. Our armistice with Caital and alliance with Mithrax goes directly against this however, and these sorts of actions are likely what’s going to motivate the Darkness to move against us directly.

I hope it’s our evil counter part from the exo stanrgers future come to take over our timeline

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 11/11/2021 5:41:43 AMIt won’t be a race. The Final Shape is what still survives when everything else is dead. That’s why it’s called The Final Shape. A race that exists now, when there are still plenty of species kicking, can not be called the Final Shape according to Sword Logic. It’ll be the Winnower. It’s the final dlc, so it can’t be a minion. That’s why the Taken versions are considered to the final form for species that get Took. Being Taken is basically the Winnower/its power possessing you. So they are perfected by the grace of the Winnower. The Winnower thinks whatever the Final Shape will be will come from it’s ideal. Which it’s hoping will be itself. Make zero mistake. The Sword Logic demands everything fight until only one is left standing. Which means whatever minions it has are meant to be killed. By us, it or someone else. So since the Final Shape is the end of the Dark and Light Saga, we have to finish off the big baddie. This happens on Io (shown in the base D2 ending) and I’m betting it’ll follow Ulan-Tans theory. Why else Io, where they added the Ulan-Tan cave. All the other theories were dropped in game. I called it years ago and will stick with it. The Gardner is already dead, so why not take the Winnower with it out of the cosmos. That’s why the first scene in D2’s ending, before the final showdown, shows the Dark and Light alone together.

i hope its merging PVE an PVP so the final enemy is use we are, are own worst enemy

<Well, we're almost guaranteed to get strange anomalous entities. Cayde and Ada's mother have seen them. There's, of course, the strange black goo creatures Drifter faced. There's possibly the Aphelion. All weird things. But I hope there's something more. I don't think the statues are just statues. There's also a second statue in the concept art the veiled ones came from. I don't like Lightbearers turned Dark, but I'm all for ancient humanity already being Dark.>

The Final Shape will unfortunately be the Scorn mutating even further because the Entity seems to have a hard on for them. The Drifter calling them natural enemies to Guardians and Mara mentioning them developing their own culture and mimicking our Crucible seems to be hinting at them being molded into something far worse. I hope I'm wrong.

The final shape will be the reckoning that comes when we as guardians look back on all the death we’ve dealt over the years. We’ve never really needed a ton of motivation to shoot our way through problems… and I can’t help but think that’s gonna come back and bite us at some point.
or some slab of vex -blam!- or whatever
