3rd Party Software (Accessibility): double press

Background: I broke my hand pretty badly and had to get reconstructive surgery to restore movement. As a result of this accident my thumb and pinky finger have limited mobility. I can move them but quick movements are challenging (like quick successive button taps). Increasing the delay of button press or avoiding mapping double press on a controller make it really hard to play PvP and being able to hang. Q: Would using an application like reWASD to map double tap actions to a single tap on paddles on an xbox elite controller be bannable? I love destiny and have over 2000+ hours in game. I want to avoid any trouble but being limited due to an accident is very frustrating since I can no longer play like I used to before my accident if I don't look for alternative was to map my controller inputs.

Hello there, I confirmed with BNGSecurity, that Bungie is happy to support accessibility in a myriad of ways, including assisted input such as reWASD. So long as automation remains within the realm of "human-like" behavior - meaning it doesn't a) perform at a super-human level or b) trivialize mechanics like aiming, avoiding damage, etc - then you'll be safe, whether on m+k or controller. That being said, some software may be poorly developed and inadvertently trigger cheat detections if it does things like try modify button mappings within the game client itself, perform debugger-like runtime analysis, etc. reWASD doesn't seem like it would do any of those things but there's always a small risk if the developer isn't following best practices.

    • Any third party software not from a main manufacturer is a big risk to your account. I don’t even think reshade is allowed and that just tunes color. The only way you can get around double key presses is having a keyboard that does this for you or dedicated software for the keyboard
