PvP Match Making

As someone who just started playing this game mid last year, I've loved everything there is to offer for PvE. But as for PvP, it's so bad. I will admit Im not the best at PvP games in general, but the experience from trying it on D2 has been absolutely terrible. Match making with players thats obviously having years of experience with god roll weapons, pretty much means theres no such thing as fair game. Theres literally 0 room for growing and learning. My suggestion? Make matchmaking work in terms of matching people based on their crucible rank. That way people who are day 1 pvp have a much better experience at learning and playing with same skilled level people so its more enjoyable and have room for learning and experimenting things instead of just getting killed over and over which leads to never want to play pvp or the game ever again.

  • Yeah they tried SBMM (Skilled Based Match Making) and the Salt Community threw their arms up in the air and had their cannon fodder taken from them and got matched with other sweats. The streamers couldn't have that, it made them look bad and people stopped watching cause they were getting fried! So they whinged to Bungo and Bungo listened to them. It was changed to CBMM (Connection Based Match Making) so they could pubstomp the hell out of newbie cannon fodder and cure all lag issues. (HAHAHA) That backfired the games became blowouts, the lag got worse, then came crossplay, and the lag got even worse. Now you have what you got today. A S4itshow in the making with ZERO retention. Bungo at it's best.

    • Meh, I don’t touch pvp anymore since it was never my thing, it was just boring and repetitive to play, so I just focus on raids and pve

    • We want SBMM, Bungie gives it to us. We hate SBMM, so Bungie changes it to CBMM We hate CBMM, so Bungie changes it BACK to SBMM We hate that too...rinse and repeat about 47 more times Conclusion - the Destiny community is a bunch of whiners that enjoy complaining about things about as much as they enjoy doing nothing about it.

Its psychotic for anyone. You can get matched with a team and do great for a round or 2 then get blasted over and over for hours. I used to be worried about going up against stacks. Didnt matter. Being on a stacked team or against a stacked team. Now its just a matter of when you’ll have a good match when you’re competitive. Using consistent weapons like a fusion rifle of your choice, you’ll notice a direct hit from a mile away will evaporate someone. Next game a direct hit tickles them from a yard away. Players get frustrated and want to leave…enter the “penalty”for leaving. Programers want people to die. Thats what they want. Death. Dead dead deadskii. Oh yeah and mouse vs console. That stinks to. Used to be better before they made it free. Oh and professionals. Used to be fun before paying full time gamers to help.

        • As long as this pvp is peer-to-peer and no dedicated servers you can practice as much as you want and you won't really get better. Too many unfair things happening......

            • No, Bungie likes to bully players, it's one of their core philosophies ... everything they do/create in PvP reinforces this. Your best bet is to team up and hop on the bully train, or don't play PvP.

              • hit the nail on the head. i have 4000hrs on this game over the years and i match with players that have the awareness of a paper weight, i understand players arent gods and can make mistakes while playing, but my teammate average under 1000 damage in a trials match that will go 9 rounds...so i have to finish the round or game with a 3.0 efficiency if I WANT to win. is that fair? is that balanced? my opponents are skilled players with communication and my blue berry has less than 100 hours in the game and hes in my end game pvp content... its frustrating..its consistent.. please go back to skill based matchmaking not team balanced match making. keep the elite players vs elite players dont inject new players with no movement skills into my lobby its not ok its not balanced even I win its because I slayed out and its just impossible to keep up from game to game. this is a problem and you need to address it bungie!

                    • I actually like the unfair angle of pvp. The concept of the Crucible wasn’t meant to be fair. Guardians aren’t equal. Also the notion you can’t get better playing against better player is silly. You learn a lot when you don’t give in to getting frustrated and pay attention. Then again, I don’t care about my pvp skill level. I charge people head on like it’s pve😎 Crucible is meant to be messy. Embrace it.

                      • The PvP teams management and support group needs help. PvP is clearly too much for them. There is no shame in bringing in people that can make the mode better.

Hey Tizzly! I give you 100% my voice and over all now i have 10k hrs crucible only. Since years there is no room for new players to get into the game. If someone tell´s something else. He has sadly not the correct view for reality. To go multiple times flawless and actually having FUN playing the game a player need thousands of hours. Exp, awareness, gear and alot of information. Pc settings, loadouts, maps, camera angle differences and the biggest thing = connection. How should a new player learn those things within a time period of one DLC? The 0.1% community is toxic, for years. DDosing communitys and ofc they share other informations too . Their clans are closed, most of them are highly paranoid. In a healthy PvP game theyr modes beeing played by ALL. In destiny 2 Crucible 99% of the players are veterans of PvP. The funny part, they are 0.1% of the total playerbase. My fl is currently not filled up by online players. There are still alot of teams online doing recovs. So imagine how many of this "new players" ore "casual" players are not even playing. Its a another veteran getting some bucks done.

                        • you have several choice, getting better , random match, or play sweaty as hell. There will never be a balance, play the mode as the best you can, play with the team, capture or be no mercy.

                        • This is how all online pvp games are. I haven't played cod in over a year, and I can guarantee that if I hopped into the new cod game it would probably either run a negative kda or 1.0 When halo infinite came out, my kda was around 1.0 but now I'm around 1.5. It's better to struggle in the deep end with a steep learning curve for a while than to start off in the shallow end and have your world wrecked once you get to the deep end.

                        • The first seven thousand posts this week with the same title and saying basically the same things went ignored by bungie. However I have faith your post is so ‘original’ it will be the one to get through to them and bring about this super important change you think you want. Another idea free of charge; Instead of demanding bungie put enough good people on your team to carry you, you could get good enough to not be relying on being placed on a team that will win it for you. Until you become the literal best pvp player in the game action exists you yourself can take today. Instead of kneeling before some higher power and begging bungie to make a system specifically designed to allow you personally to win you could do the small work yourself. One day you can achieve victory not obtained off the back of your five teammates.

CoolGuy, a really great D2 YouTube streamer, just did a video on how bad the lobby balancing and matchmaking is in pvp, as well as connection stability. He makes some great points, check it out: https://youtu.be/v2NHajV0v90 He makes a great point in saying someone trying to play pvp for the first few times w/ all blue armor and weapons should not be put in a lobby only to get drilled into oblivion by a well experienced player w/ a Lorentz Driver. I'm an experienced player and I hate that, lol! Can't imagine how that feels to a complete newbie. First impressions of a play mode matter big time. If you're getting spawn trapped by Lorentz... or anything else as a new player = you're probably never coming back to pvp. If Bungie wants more players in pvp they gotta fix this.

                              • From a normal player: I don’t care who you match me against just make sure the connection is top shelf and let the chips fall where they may. If they are better and a lot are , they will still win. I just don’t want to keep getting one burst killed by another player because that is what my connection is showing me . The last month has been a shitty experience with the matchmaking and connection issues I have been witnessing .
