I actually like the unfair angle of pvp. The concept of the Crucible wasn’t meant to be fair. Guardians aren’t equal.
Also the notion you can’t get better playing against better player is silly. You learn a lot when you don’t give in to getting frustrated and pay attention.
Then again, I don’t care about my pvp skill level. I charge people head on like it’s pve😎
Crucible is meant to be messy. Embrace it.

You can’t get better as a new player because the PvP is driven by a meta, not driven by skill. A meta load out kills 2.5x as fast from longer ranges vs a new light hopping in with whatever loot they happened to collect. Veteran players have faster movement speed, better aim assist, larger hit boxes, more powerful weapons, higher resilience, and the list goes on and on. You cannot get better when you’re disadvantaged in every single measurable metric. You will lose every single head to head fight because your gun takes 7 bullets to kill and his gun takes 2 or even 1 bullet to kill and has a higher fire rate. It’s especially irritating because PvP is forced through the grind requirements. Either PvP needs to ignore all weapon mods and set a standard defence/offence stat. Or ALL grinds need to be removed from PvP.

We you actually can. People do it every day. Not to say that gear isn’t a major factor, it is. Talking like skill has no place in equation is just silly. Just because you’re disadvantaged doesn’t mean you don’t get better over time. Because…drumroll….you also get better gear over time. It takes time but so what? You picked a game based on rng loot and super powers. You want call of duty, go play that.
