Dude even their sbmm is not working correctly. I'm a 0.98 and I match up with people over 1.5kd in survival. How does that work? Only Bungie knows...

Yea, Bungie uses something I believe was called "Batlle Efficiency" or there abouts. I know they explained it years ago but *shrug*. Not close to elo that people use on 3rd party sites which is a flawed method for multiplayer games.

Do you have proof they use ELO? To the best of my knowledge Bungie has never acknowledged the use of ELO (a third party, made up number).

When you go into Comp or Elim, look at the elo scores. For the most part they'd be about even. An outlier here or there, but even. No game has ever done it by KD. Or win rate. Bungie tries to force at 50% win rate anyway. Other games like CoD use ELO too. Not just Destiny

I thought you may say something like that. This is totally false. I have 3600+ Survival matches and almost NEVER are the elo numbers "close". In your theory, how would Bungie calculate SBMM when a 3 stack goes into Comp?

I'm not saying I know what they use, I'm saying it's not ELO, and until Bungie acknowledges the use of a made up 3rd party number like "ELO", it doesn't exist

I was under the impression that it matches based on your glory rank, not KD. If that's the case, then if you're Brave II for example, you could get matched against a God tier player if they've happened to not rank up yet, or have already reset from Legend. I could be wrong. But if it is rank based, then you would over all play against people more so at your level, but would still encounter top players as they're moving up.

It cannot be possible due to the fact that Elim is SBMM and there is no glory tied to it. They cannot be matching you based on valor in Elim because literally every pvper has reset their rank countless times this season so the algorithm only makes sense if it matches you based on win / loss ratio in conjunction with K/D. Pretty sure Bungie doesn't even know how their match making works.

Yeah, I have no idea about elimination. Does it affect your glory rank, or just valor? Because as you pointed out, valor gets reset a bunch. But most players haven't reset glory. It would be bonkers if they used valor for match making. Maybe elimination is(or is at least trying to) use KD, and survival is factoring in glory. The reason I suspected survival match making took glory rank into consideration, is because my matches steadily get harder as my glory rank goes up. My KD has barely changed, and my win/loss ratio actually gets a little worse since the matches are harder. So how is the match making pairing me against steadily increasing skill level players in survival if it's not taking glory(not valor) into account? And if it's not rank based, then do sweats have crazy hard matches right out of the gate when they play survival for the first time in a season?

I'm not entirely sure about this because I face some noobs in Elim and then face some absolute gods. There is something weird going on with sbmm. I've noticed when I run with some of my god tier clan mates in survival, the matches are almost always sweaty however when I run with people on my K/D or lower, the matches are much less sweaty and more cheesy. I guess glory rank is likely to be a factor but it seems like there's a ratio that the matchmaking works on which involves connection, skill and glory rank🤔 I know connection is a factor because I usually match with people who I find in control (Cbmm)
