I keep seeing this misconception throughout the community regarding perks that reference Powered Sword Hits/kills. Too often I see people saying that perks like Tireless Blade are useless because they only trigger on heavy attacks, which is most certainly not a thing. I have even recently seen this misunderstanding parroted by popular content creators in regards to the Cold Steel perk.
A Powered Sword Hit/kill in the context of a sword perk simply means an attack/kill performed while the sword has ammo; this can be either a Light of Heavy attack. It does NOT have to be a Heavy attack. "Powered" in this context simply means the sword has ammo.

It's definitely poor wording on their part, since you're not going to be swinging the sword at enemies without ammo, invalidating the need to specify perks only work with ammo.
-
Wow next time could you explain the meaning of the word “sword”? Super helpful!
-
They should really change the description of tireless blade and cold steel, just say hits or kills because even I for a while thought it meant heavy attacks, that's what I assume when I hear "powered attacks"
-
Bungie should change their description then Or instead of “powered blade” 🙄 Maybe change it to “sword with ammo”
-
Well I still call my level my "light level". Purple ammo is heavy ammo. A sword is a heavy weapon. I'm sure there are more...
-
All the hours in this game and never new that lol. Thank you.
-
Shhhh don't tell Bungie take this post down 😂
-
How funny is this I was just listening to the radio and they were talking about how many people can't read
-
Damn. Now it’s gonna get nerfed. Why would you do this?
-
I thought this too about tireless blade up untill cold steel came out.

I use swords a lot and I never knew this, thanks for the info. I thought it was a glitch whenever I would get heavy ammo with light attacks lol
-
Good shout. I wasn't aware people actually thought that. But I guess we continue to set examples here. Never blindly follow someone, even if they are a popular streamer. Powered hits = has ammo.
-
Its amazing how few people actually know this. I guess thats what you get get if you only have used a hand cannon, shotgun, lineair wepaon this season
-
Tireless Blade literally only works when using a heavy attack same with the Cold Steel perk.
-
Wait people actually misunderstood this
-
I didn't know. This post is greatly appreciated! Thanks m8!
-
The more you know.
-
Omg I never understood I guess 😳
-
Definitely did not know this. Will re-evaluate future drops accordingly
-
I was happy to learn this about the cold steel perk.

If that's the case, then what's the difference between the relentles and tireless perk? Relentless only working for normal strikes and tireless working for both normal and heavy strikes?
