Giving a gun an intrinsic perk for all champion types would really diminish the value of the seasonal artifact. Which Bungie would probably not want to do.
Maybe if it was like elemental capacitor. Which champion it works against could be determined by what subclass you have equipped. Not sure how to work stasis into that though.

It wouldn’t tho.. tell me how many times you do a GM or Master nightfall and bring just one of each champion mod type? Usually I bring a bow a LFR and thermoclastic strike just to be safe while my fire team members both bring a anti barrier auto and a fusion rifle. That’s several weapons for each category. Bringing THE CHAMPION would allow for more versatile loadouts of the other weapons. I’d still bring an LFR for this season with the mod for it. Also if this new gun was a special ammo weapon with low ammo reserves or even heavy. That would help balance the need for other weapons for champs. It’s more of a it’s there for when my fire team member who brought a bow is down or situations where your fire team member who was on anti barrier duty is pinned or something. TLDR. Really wouldn’t negate the use of champion mods.
