Another red war- esque campaign would be awesome

I’m talking about where the bad guys win, even if only temporarily. Let the guardians be brought down to earth (get it? You will if you played Red War lol) Make it feel like a genuine struggle for power for the guardians again. In my opinion, red war had some of the most incredible storytelling I’ve ever experienced in Destiny. I think it would be awesome to be able to experience something like that again.

In all honesty, I was actually thinking that this would be a great idea if guardians lost to savathun and to the black fleet. After both of these heavy losses, the vanguard is on the verge of splitting up bc they cannot agree on what to do. Zavala wouldn't want to risk any more guardians lives and is depressed while also saying that after all these years, nothing's changed after the red war, but ikora wants to fight because she almost gave up during that time and wasn't there to protect her friend when he really needed her. She couldn't even do as much as avenge him. Instead she feels guilty and a little ashamed that her underling had to do it for her. You also would feel helpless bc even though you've got more powers, you still feel weak. You wonder how you can beat the black fleet if you couldn't even beat oryx's weaker little sister. I love it when characters experience despair, bc they are literally at their lowest point. To be honest, I've been saying this for a while. The theme that I liked in the red war was that guardians take the light for granted. They have all of this great power that was given to them, but then they choose to waste its potential. Look at how powerful ghaul became after he stole the light. He turned into a giant being of light. He became so powerful that the traveler had to intervene. Even though he stole the light, I really feel like we can do something similar to that. The honest truth is that we really don't know too much about the light and where the traveler came from. Guardians should be trying to figure out how to use the light to it's full potential, but all they really use it for is for stupid things like emotes. Guardians haven't mastered the light, and I don't think they've scratched the surface. And that's what a future expansion should be about. The true nature of light and dark, and how to manifest them to their full potential.
