It's definitely one of the few strikes that really needs team work and communication. It's funny how everyone wants optional matchmaking for everything but don't realize the amount of talking and strategy required to get through raids and such.

  • I completed Hallowed Lair lfg no mic. Goes to show that good gamers can get it done with no mic, casual gamers with mics can struggle.

  • And what type of players will matchmaking be for?

  • That is exactly what the option is for. I don’t understand the people who are against that if you don’t like it turn it off and you are in the same boat you are in now. The only argument I’ve heard that could be valid is they need to use resources on other stuff and that is really weak at best.

  • I think its not a good idea because i dont know if it will help anyone at all. Experienced players will still use LFG, because you can put what you want and dont want in a team with LFG, instead of rolling the dice. Casual players will use MM, because (most likely) they dont know about LFG. So they go, get matchmade a team, and start a raid, which is the activity that needs communicatiom the most. And you dont even know whi speaks your language. And so they fail, over and over, because raids are meant to be done with a team and communication, and so have enconters that reflect that. Could they complete it? Yes, but the number of failures would be way, WAY bigger than the number of completions.

  • So what you’re saying is many more people would try. So you try and fail but then because you’ve match made 10 times and failed now you have the confidence to LFG and you complete something you otherwise never would have. On the other hand you could matchmake and succeed which is awesome. Either way nothing negative happens to you joanespotatos so why be against it? That is what I’m asking.

  • Im against it because it goes against what the activity is. Its a group project, where you get your friends or competent people to play with you, where you need communication and work as a team. It wasnt meant to have MM in the first place, and shoehorning it wouldnt make it better. Sure, people would try, but most would fail, and think that the activity itself is complicated and unfun.

  • And yet still it would not hurt you in the slightest. So you just don’t want the casual player or person with social anxiety to play that activity? What my point is, is that you are not put out even the slightest bit by this even if it’s not what the activity was “designed for”. Do you know how many great things have came out of using things in different ways and not what they were designed for?

  • This is not about me. Its about the fact that an activity designed to be mechanically challenging wasnt meant to be done with matchmaking. It doesnt hurt me, but it hurts the experience of others that might try, fail, and then never want to do it again because of how annoying it was. Adding MM just causes more cons than pros, is what im saying.

  • And the optional part takes all of that away because if you don’t want to matchmake you don’t have to just turn it off. So why are you against it? It hurts no one who doesn’t want to try it’s experience at all.

  • Because again, its not about me. Its about the people who will try, who will fail, and who will hate the activity because they cant do it. Raids werent made to have MM. If you put then now, it will create more problems than solving them.

  • You mean the people who would have never tried but now did? What’s raid attempt percentage at, like 1.6% or something? I’m betting a whole lot more people would end up completing and being happy with all activities including raids with optional matchmaking. You are trying to save people headaches by not adding the chance for them to play which seems crazy and in no way positive to me.

  • If trying makes them hate an activity, and in turn makes them never try it again, then whats the point? Forcing an activity to be acessible even when it was never designed to be, and considering how raids NEED communication if you arent good or accostumed with the raid, which most, if not all casual arent, makes the activity worse for the same people we are trying to include.

  • But it doesn’t because it is optional so those who clicked to enter knew and wanted to matchmake. It was the choice they made. Again it doesn’t matter what the activity was made for this would be an added extra that is optional so where’s the negativity in that? Why would people hate it so bad if they chose that option and I’m sure streamers and content creators would make tutorials for these people it could actually do the opposite and bring more of the community rodeos why not add it?

  • Because matchmaking implies that an activity does not need much communication nor teamwork. Optional or not. If they join an activity, then they want to win, not to fail over and over and over again. Do you think they would care if they made that choice? Besides, are we really going to put content creators in this because SOME people wanted to have a matchmade activity when it clearly wasnt made to be that way?

  • Matchmaking does not carry any implications and if it’s optional the people who do not like it can simply not use it. The argument you are trying to make to that point is ridiculous. It wouldn’t make anything any worse it’s just an elitist attitude to not want it at this point.

Tell me an activity that has MM and does need communication. I'll wait. Its not elitist to put MM in a part of the game that isnt designed to, and doesnt need it. Being optional is irrelevant, because the problem IS the matchmaking, not that you need to use it. Besides, doesnt the game HAVE some sort of matchmaking in raids? Guided games, isnt it? How many people use that, exactly?

  • Have you used guided games? If you had you would know that it’s nothing like matchmaking. What people want is an ease of use matchmaking option. When you are dead set against an option for people to use it makes you look like an elitist because the only way that it effects you is that it makes your “special” stuff not as special. Your argument is that it being an option doesn’t matter when in fact it absolutely does. It being an option takes any and all negative effects on you and switches them off. So again, why argue against it?
