Story Post: Leave-takings
Two posts a day, two days in a row, on 2/2/22? Sure, that's fine. Besides, my other post today was really boring.
(This story'll be a short one, as it is basically the intro to my redone story. This takes place after my Restaurant RP. While writing this I'm also working on the final part of Commander & Co.'s origin. Anyways, onto the story.) The group of agents sat behind their new restaurant. They sat in a garage that is hidden behind it, and they sat in an uneasy silence. None wanted to speak. They, months ago, had abandoned their original mission, once the Skeleton King was revealed to have passed by this universe. It was sanctioned by their boss, but they still felt uneasy. Their Boss was a king, the ruler of their afterlife, and they wanted to do as he asked, even if he said they no longer had to. The device behind them beeped suddenly, shattering the silence, and sending each of them into motion as if they had been awakened from sleep. “It’s… Its Blood on the radio!” Mechanic gasped, realizing who exactly was calling. Mech hurried over, his shambling step disrupted by clanking metal, and grabbed the headphones with much vigor and excited eyes. “Blood,” he asks, “Why are you here? Did something happen?” “No duh something happened, you hunk of metal! Finn was injured while he was leading the Fleet. Everyone in the castle is freaking out. We need at least you back, preferably L.I.O.N. 34-55-32A, too. He’s supposed to be the best in his regiment for healing, yeah?” Mech put the headset down slowly. The rest of the crew watched him expectantly, but Mech just sat down, refusing to speak. Commander decided he’d pick up the headset. “Hello? This is the agent codenamed Commander. I’d like to request instructions…?” Commander asked. The radio was silent for a while before a new voice spoke. “This is Base Universe Jon. I’ll relay your instructions. Boss is in a coma, and not responsive. You are to send agent codenamed Mech and agent codenamed Newcomer back to Home Base. You are then to accept 2 new agents, who will be sent within a Universal Constant Day, and find a way to integrate them into the society you are inhabiting. That is all. Good luck, Agent Commander.” Hearing this, Commander seems to react similar to Mech, but shakes himself out of it, used to need to take charge in tough times. “Mech and Newcomer must return home. We’ll be receiving two new people. We are to integrate them into Offtopic. Those are our orders.” A silence much more awkward than when they first gathered descended upon the group, and Panzer let out a low, sad creak of metal. Many of the faces around were downcast, as Mech and Newcomer were appreciated members of the team, as was everyone, but them especially. Newcomer, however, looked determined, and Mech resigned. Newcomer left the garage in his uncanny, loping stride without saying another word, Mech behind him. When Panzer backed out to see them one last time, they had already left. A new star appeared in the sky that night, the same as when Newcomer arrived.
