VSync is broken again on PC

Since the release of the Witch Queen Update, I'm having big problems with screen tearing during play, menu and cutscenes. Enabling VSync has no effect, neither in the ingame graphic options nor on the NVidia global control panel. I've had tearing problems before, but they could be resolved by switching from full screen to maximised window in the display settings. Now with the release of Witch Queen, this has no longer any effect and the screen tearing has returned in full force. My system can handle destiny on highest settings for at least 60 FPS no problemo, I'm running a GeForce GTX 970 4G with a mediocre i7 processor, so I can't understand why the system does not enable VSync in any way. The tearing does not coincide with a drop in performance, still have 60 FPS throughout. From around the internet, word is this happens regularly, so I'm just putting this out here so it becomes a more visible problem for Bungie. A fix would be nice, doesnt matter if I have to play in fullscreen or maximised window for it. best regards

  • What is your monitor? This is where tearing stems from. Vsync is “nice” but just adds latency by creating extra frames to smooth out the moving images. You could be pushing a lot of frames into a small htz monitor since you said your rig is better than mid-tier.
