The Problem:

1. Bungie promises to support Windows 7 every time they take customers' money through Steam. (And also Win 8.1, which may be affected by the current outage.)
2. Bungie did not do ANY Windows 7 testing prior to release, pushing out updates with "impossible to miss" game-breaking bugs. This serious process failure has now occurred twice in a row:
2a. The game was unplayable for 24 solid days on Season of the Lost. (Missing DLL error on startup.)
2b. The game is currently unplayable for 28+ days after Witch Queen / Season of the Risen. (All GUIs blank and corrupted, even the title-screen.) This breakage has also caused customers to miss exclusive events such as the Day-1 raid.
3. This comes to 52 days out of 209, or a whopping >25% downtime for customers.
Demands:

Even if the current issue is fixed tomorrow, Bungie has already mistreated its customers and burned years of accumulated trust. Customers need to see:
1. Acknowledge that this level of release-quality and downtime is not acceptable.
2. Promise to at least do the bare-minimum "smoke test" of future major builds on a Windows 7 machine prior to release.
3. If Bungie will not do #1 and #2, then cease this false-advertising and strike Windows 7 from the supported OS listing on Steam, offering refunds to affected customers.

Unfortunately Bungie doesn't really care. Just observe the little case in giving satisfaction, as well as launching the game without working on a compatible system.
-
And almost a month later, no solution. Then Bungie comes up with a solution within a month of launch and thinks everything will be fine.

Edited by toneDef Weary: 3/11/2022 8:57:41 AMRuns old, unsupported OS... makes demands... XD Edit - PC "mAsTEr RaCE" everyone! XD Edit 2 - No offense to those of you PC folk that actually know what you are doing ;)

Edited by Terr: 3/10/2022 6:46:16 PMWAS NOT FIXED by Hotfix 4.0.0.3 on 2022-03-10. Day 17 of the growing unprofessional debacle continues.
-
Don't forget 3fps cutscenes that remain broken since launch of Beyond Light.
-
Dont expect them to care about that. They got the money, they may fix it one day but it will be the least priority … i assume they would rather fix a -blam!- emblem Problem first (if there was any) instead of resolving an issue that - AGAIN - prevents a small but present player base from playing this game. This is a really sad reality. Forced me to switch back to PS4 again, although i hate it there. But at least i can play … with flashing Armor pieces all over the place btw (yes, there are many bugs on other platforms too - this certainly being one of em)
-
Edited by Terr: 3/15/2022 7:34:15 PMBump: Now we're at 21 days, three whole weekly resets, and the entire -blam!- raid event, all taken from paying customers because somebody never did the bare-minimum "does it at least start" test for the 3rd-most-popular gaming OS in the world...
-
I agree, people paid for the game while it stated that it supported Windows 7, any form of dropping support for that should come with compensation for those who purchased the game and who do not want to pay for a new operating system. Also for anyone who mentions the free upgrade to Win 10, that only was available for a limited time, during which it was full of bugs in which many people chose not to "downgrade" until it became more stable.
-
They really can't just strike the Steam supported systems like that midstream. The game was sold not just for release but also all Seasons this content year, Bungie is stuck with Win7 for at least that long - through next major expansion at minimum. I agree that at minimum I want to see a pledge from Bungie to do a smoke test on Win7 prior to shipping further updates.
-
Not even the decency to give Bungie a satisfaction did. You can see that not even answering this question here on the forum, she does. Honestly, I hardly ever spend money on the game again.
-
It is not just Windows 7 having these issues, Windows 8.1 players are also experiencing the same or similar and yet there has been barely any acknowledgement that this is even a problem from Bungie. It would be a different story if the game's System Requirements didn't say that both Win 7 and Win 8.1 are supported. How did this get past play-testing on these "supported" OS? What's more, we also haven't heard a single word of acknowledgement about this issue from any of the Destiny streamers and video makers it seems. I know that I have tried to raise it with a few of them on youtube when they have asked in their vids how players are enjoying the game or if players are experiencing any issues. I'd say that they ignored those comments, but looking at my comment history I can see that at least 4 of those big youtube video creators simply deleted the comment from their comment section even though I was polite and stuck solely to the currently known facts. I don't know what's worse, not being able to play or feeling like we are simply being ignored.

Why would Bungie support an EOL OS? Microsoft doesn't even support Windows 7 anymore. You should look to upgrade instead of complaining. As of January 14, 2020, your computer running Windows 7 will still function but Microsoft will no longer provide the following: Technical support for any issues Software updates Security updates or fixes
-
Demands lol What they need to do tbh is just remove support for windows from the requirements page. If it’s becoming this much of an issue just dump it from the requirements.
-
Bungie please, either fix this or stop supporting windows 7. Yeah, yeah, I'll upgrade to win 10 some time this year, but I just wish i could chill playing some Destiny right now, and I can't, even though I could two weeks ago. Just let us know either way. If I need to move on, I'll move on. Don't string us along like this.

3. The game was unplayable for 24 days in Season of the Lost. (Missing DLL error on startup.) Has anyone tried these DLLs in The Witch Queen? Thanks ------------------------------------- 3. El juego no se pudo jugar durante 24 días en Season of the Lost. (Falta el error de DLL al inicio). Alguno ha probado estas DLL en La Reyna Bruja ? Gracias

well.. i paid for the game. they took my money and i would really like to be able to play. my hype is killed and i can honestly say i wont be pre-ordering again any future things no matter how much it seems like a good deal. guess i go back to planting my giant wheat field in minecraft...that still works on windows 7...
-
I just bought an SSD and i'm going to change to Windows 10 since i'm tired of this whole mess, but mainly to play the other game that just came out, my hype died since the DLC dropped but i want to make use of the money i spent. Its dumb that cutscenes are still broken after a whole year and these bugs keep happening cause they are not even trying to launch the game on the system, there are games that came out after Destiny 2 and are bigger than it, that still support windows 7, receive constant updates and don't go breaking without a fix for almost a month, RIP the Le Monarque ornament that i wanted.
