… really the only good Hunter exotic?
I’m a Titan main and I’m curious. Most of the sweats I play against have this on, and some of my Hunter friends say that the rest of the exotics are 🗑 or 🧀.
Is this true?
With me always being on the receiving end of them I’m personally glad that they’re getting nerfed. They are ridiculously hard to compete against, either aggressively or passively. I know part of it is a skill thing, but I think that they currently give Hunters a much higher skill ceiling compared to the other classes.
-
Really depends on your build.
-
for me......they are for jumping puzzles thats it.
-
They didn’t need a nerf. They are the only thing allowing our mobility to be even a little bit close to Titans and Warlocks.
-
Not really. Stompees are mostly used due to the speed and jump boost it gives, which makes movement seem so much smoother in my opinion. However I have used or seen several good Hunter exotics that grant useful buffs, like Ophidia Spathe, Raiden Flux, Raijus Harness, Mask of Bakris, Frostees, Dragon's Shadow, Wormhusk...... even Lucky Pants and Gemini Jesters. The rest are either so-so or good, but situational, if complete meh, but what class doesn't have meh exotics?

Check out the Graph. So many Use it, it got Tagged.

Good players do not care about any exotic perk from an exotic armor piece. Especially from the hunters collection. None stand out for high tier playing. Said players move and play fast.
-
Most others require a specific build/play style to have fun w. A fav of mine is Arthrys Embrace, but Young Ahamkara Spine is a lot of fun too. Dragons shadow is great(I prefer over stompeez). Lucky pants are fun w last word, lean in to the old Western feel. Khepri's sting is kinda fun, w the true sight, but close range is hard bc you'll prob be dead from a shotgun before you get the melee off. I'd love for mechaneer's to be great, but half it's kit relies on being critical. Lucky raspberry means a lot of fun w arcbolt grenades. Just some other exotics to run aside from stompeez, bc I find more fun in leaning into the play style of the exotics rather than unbinding everything but my w key and only having shotguns in my inventory lol

Stompees make hunters base stats all around way overtuned for free.
-
I prefer gemini jesters. Only use stompees for some jumping puzzles in pve
-
What you should really do is run a pulse (preferably Insidious or Vigilance Wing) with bottom tree gun slinger and Athrys's Embrace. Throwing knife ricochets around corners are incredibly satisfying.
-
Very much so.
-
Nah mate there's plenty of decent ones it's just that stompees provided very high benefits without the player having to do anything at all so people gravitate towards them. Personally I like dragons shadow
-
It’s because that’s all people run and when they do switch, they notice the difference a lot more. It’s a bit like when I run Transversives constantly for a while and then switch to say, Ophidians, you notice the lack of speed and extra slide distance quite significantly but then after a while you adjust to it. Plenty of decent hunter exotics out there, people just need to use them more often so they don’t miss the benefits of stompees so much.
-
It’s like pharah in overwatch… She will dominate in the metal ranks because people can’t look up and aim… Same is true of stompees
-
Yep stompees are the only good exotic hunters have all others are nerfed to ground or we're -blam!- to start with

Edited by Mega Kranus: 4/27/2022 8:42:55 PMThey are overused because strangely enough hunters are the slowest class in the game. Warlocks can jump-hack and use icarus dash, titans are basically space marines that can move across the map in seconds, and hunters... jump really high. They aren't mandatory, but give such a huge blanket advantage that it can be hard to justify taking them off for anything else. Bakris and Wormhusk come to mind, and liars handshake memes are generally what I use when I'm not running stompees. But that's about it. Imagine taking off dunes and moving 30% slower, or trying to punch without synthoceps, that's what it feels like to take off stompees
-
No Hunters have plenty of good exotics which you’ll find out soon enough and you’ll probably end up looking back to the Stompees era with fond memories. I honestly don’t get the hate for Stompees? I’ve never died to a Hunter because they were wearing them.
-
Not really. They're probably the most generically useful, and the speed boost allows you to keep up with the default kits of the other two classes Problem is that most of the other good Hunter Exotics expect you to spec hard into a gimmick, and every gimmick isn't going to appeal to every player
-
Everything else besides Dragons Shadow was nerfed
-
It's faaaar from the only good exotic. It's just so hugely powerful over the rest that it makes everything feel like crap in comparison.
-
60% of hunter exotics are cheesy or can be cheesy if used correctly, 10% of them are garbage and 20% of them are more pve. The last 10% of exotics aren't broken or cheesy but aren't used because they aren't that great. Next season some of the exotics we haven't seen might be meta. Especially with sidearms.
-
Nah, there are several good pvp exotics for hunters. The general population of pvp players are just bad lol
-
They’re far from the only good one, but it’s just good for standard gameplay, giving you a speed boost, slide boost, etc. whereas many of the other Hunter Exotics are more situational. It’s the sweat Exotic, basically.
-
No its not the only good hunter exotic, hunters have probably more variety than any other class. They just gotta build into it compared to other classes. Frostees, that dragon chest piece I always forget the name of, the gloves that can hold bow charge indefinitely, the gloves that improve the crap out of tripmines, the jesters, the graviton invisibility helmet, the bakris, etc. all those exotics are top tier, the thing is, stompees was just on a tier all on its own granting mobility to the point hits wouldn’t even register due to the hit box moving way faster than the model. I mean stompees are still gonna be meta, losing in air accuracy only means losing aim assist lol. Its still gonna do what it does only better if hunters learn to slide more instead of bunny jumping all over the map.
-
For me its either oathkeepers or gemini jesters, depending on which build im using
-
I really liked the hand cannon ones when I played hunter. They also have worm husk and dragons shadow for neutral game.
