Hunter's Dodge

I feel like the hunter's dodge isn't viable for nothing more than to obtain ammo and melee. I have been killed within my dodge. Especially, in Crucible. I don't know how that makes sense. To be killed by combatants and Guardians within my dodge with something as simple as kinetic fire. I always thought that was something I could use to disengage a fight, recover and return. Especially, going into invisibility. I feel like there isn't any defense when dodging, or dodging into invisibility. I also want to add that Guardians and combatants all too easily walk out of tethers as though they have no effect on them as though suppression is easily overcome, and very situational. I feel like I'd rather hold super for empowering skills or weapons. I myself cannot easily get out and run or walk out of supers as though it's not there. Especially, being suppressed, blinded, etc. I have to struggle against the super. I've also witnessed Guardians easily get out of my Stasis easily. Removing freeze and walking out of being slowed or it doesn't move toward Guardian. But, when I'm in in a Tether or Stasis, I cannot remove the lock on Stasis or get out of Tethers. I can click on the Stasis unlock all day. I have high resilience and recovery. I feel like I'm being killed all too easily. Why do I work hard to grind armor that powerful only to be one or two tapped. I'd like to add that I feel suspicious of other players using some kind of unfair advantage using something like Chrono Zen, as though too many players don't miss any of their shots. Not even programmed AI are that good. Even in some higher tiers lol. I'd like to here what others have to say on this subject. Please, be chill. I want some sincere feedback or honest opinions. Teach me something I don't understand or know please about what I can do to improve or answers to what is going on, or is it just me and I need to, "Git Gud?"

  • The dodge isn’t a get out of jail free card. Stop treating it like one

    • Should’ve dodged this into a paragraph. Maybe 2 if you had coyote equipped.

      • I read just enough to offer this advice: Psstttt... if you're getting drilled by enemy fire and simply dodge, you're still going to get hit. Dodge into cover... the bullets magically stop hitting you.

            • What on earth do you want dodge to do, then? Make you invincible?

The dodge breaks aim assist and is on a 18 second cooldown for Gambler's at tier 10 mobility, 14 for Marksman's. Edit: Got the cooldowns mixed up. Adjusted the post accordingly.

                • First point for the hunter dodge it's not meant to be defensive like how a titan barricade is or have an healing properties like a warlocks rift, we as hunters have to build our dodge to be a bit more defensive in that sense, using bottom tree arc or wormhusk, but the dodge alone is a pretty good tool without the subclass or exotic. Just got to know when to and when not to use it. I'm not sure how you're using dodge (I cant tell from the post) but I find much more success dodging to get into cover instead of it being in the middle of nowhere with no cover around in a gunfight. Staying close enough to cover so that you can slip out of a fight when you need to is really what makes dodge a pretty strong ability in pvp. For the tether, it's the best it's ever since the d2 launched. It can be frustrating seeing players not get tethered quick enough, more often than not the tether user gets killed before the super actually suppresses anyone. The updated quiver is much better for being an attack super, although dead fall now can pull players into the tether if they're close enough, quiver still might be the better option for pvp. Try staying lower to the ground when popping tether since you're much more exposed in the air if you jump to the max height and then pop super. Give some different things a try and if all that still fails constantly, you can go spectral blades for you super in pvp. Lastly, sometimes players can be leagues better and still get matched with you or against you for no reason. I'd change my mindset and start looking for weak points in what those players are doing, so if they're really good up close I'll start fights with more distance between us. If they're really good with precision weapons, I use whatever I can to make them miss (explosive/timed payload, pulse/scout rifle, any high cal weapons) and hope for the best and if all that fails, I just take the L and move in to the next game. This one may be harder to do but I also try to look for ways I could have avoided dying whenever I die, its keeps me from being frustrated and blaming the other player or the game for something that was 98% my fault anyways and it's just a constant reminder that this is a video game after all. I'll even verbally say things like "I ignored the wrong player", "I'm too far in their spawn", "I didnt leave early enough". I probably didnt explain things too well but if its needed I can go more in depth.

                • As a Hunter main, I’m killed mid dodge almost every time I use it. I don’t really care as I’m not a god tier PvP player. I just think it looks cool as -blam!- lol

wish it worked like dodge does in dark souls 3 maybe PVE only tho so dodge in PVP is unchanged... if it has to be in PVP to them dodge charge would be kill based so you have to earn it failing all of that if it got double the travel distance that might be good a speed boost too

                  • The Hunter's dodge has been nerfed on many occasions. Severely, too. Rifts and barricades have gotten nothing but buffs. C'mon Bungo
