The Skullgirl is coming to Skullgirls!

Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from New Meridian! And it is that time of the non-cyclical time period again! Yes, that's right, the final* of the four new Skullgirls DLC characters has finally been revealed, and who else could it be but the Skullgirl herself; Marie! Every seven years, a powerful artifact known as the Skull Heart emerges. It is said that it can grant any wish to those who find it.. Yet, those who are impure of heart get transformed into a being of pure destruction; the Skullgirl. Only, is it possible to ever make a pure hearted wish, when ultimately every wish comes from our own selfish desires? So far, it seems, it is not... The latest victim is this cycle of violence is a young girl named Marie. Another orphaned victim of the brutality of the Medici Mafia, Marie was found by Double, and given the Skull Heart. Her wish? To destroy every last trace of the Medici. As the latest Skullgirl, she destroyed the Last Hope--an elite group of anti-Skullgirl assassins--and recruited their single surviving member to her side, an act that inadvertently destroyed the last remaining ASG Lab; the greatest threat to the Skullgirl's power. Now, she rampages across New Meridian, killing anyone with even loose ties to the mafia that took everything away from her.. Becoming, perhaps, something even worse than the monsters she swore to destroy... But before she could complete her rampage, the Skull Heart was destroyed.. Only, it seems one small fragment of it still bears power, and so Marie remains... Marie has, of course, been in the game since the beginning, but only as a boss fight. The Marie we know functions under completely different rules that don't even resemble a regular fight. She's usually--but not always--fought at the end of each character's Story Mode, and is always the final challenge in Arcade mode. Now it seems it's our turn to be the big** scary lich. I will admit I'm a little disappointed that the Marie we get to play as seems to be some weakened form of her, as she only has a fragment of the Skull Heart rather the full thing, but still, I'm excited! Especially for her story mode! (though hopefully they give us some explanation why destroying the Skullheart didn't kill her) Now, anyone who's been paying attention has kinda already known Marie was coming; it was said a long time ago that in order for Skullgirls' "canon" storyline to take place, the four characters they'd need to add are Annie, Umbrella, Black Dahlia, and Marie, and though they were trying to build up the mystery, it became very clear as soon as Umbrella was released that this was going to be our lineup for the DLC. That does potentially mean we might be getting that canon storyline, though, so *fangirly scream*! Even more exciting, though, now that the obvious choices are out of the way, if we get a second season pass, those characters would actually be mysterious! Finally, if any of you have been following these posts, you'll know that I never gave an update about Black Dahlia releasing, and that's because she's not out yet. Marie likely got revealed earlier than originally anticipated because Skullgirls made it into EVO, and they wanted to announce it there. So, congrats Skullgirls for making it into EVO!
Black Dahlia is looking like a lot of fun, though! She's got 3 different ammo types that she can swap between, with different status effects and whatnot!
Tl;dr? Here's my point! Marie, the Skullgirl, is coming to Skullgirls as a playable character, as the final* new character in the new DLC! She'll have lots of spooky necromancy powers, and stuff!
Note, the new DLC is currently only available for the PS4, and Steam versions of Skullgirls: 2nd Encore. The Nintendo Switch version is planned to receive the DLC at a later date. There are currently no plans for Xbox to receive the DLC, though Future Club has said they'd be down to make an Xbox version in the future. *While there are only 4 confirmed new characters, Future Club has said they might add a fifth character is sales are good enough. So go buy the season pass even if you don't like Skullgirls! Do it for me! **Marie is not very big.
But that's all for now folks! Remember, I'll always be here to fill you in on this game you don't care about! Jambuhbye!
