From a trans player's perspective, it would be nice if Bungie could include some manner of character editing even after their initial creation. Many players create characters that perhaps reflect themselves in real life, and if Bungie wants to live up to the commitment they've set for their trans players, they should include some form of character edit tokens in case players are not satisfied with their character's appearance. Whether it be due to mistakes in creation or, as I referenced above, their character no longer reflecting who they are in real life, I genuinely believe Bungie would not stand to lose anything from a character editing system.

Just out of curiosity, is it more of the character voice and facial appearance changes that are the issue or the visible body habitus of your character and how they look in their armor? I totally get the former, because if you’re playing a cutscene with your helmet off and your character actually has spoken lines and a physical appearance then it does become a big deal. Personally, if it were the latter then I’d think Bungie would be better off trying to retain a single unisex design model for armor and the like as wearing armor only has ever had one singular practical purpose; looks can be a secondary focus.
