Crossplay needs a break until there are designated servers.
It's sad that I can load into a pvp match and without looking at the roster, immediately know I'm matching against xbox players. The crossplay lag (call it what you want lag, animation stutter, whatever) is -blam!-. There are people who claim it's not that bad, or that it doesn't effect gameplay but when I can provide clip after clip of people literally stuttering through battles and appearing outside the "fight ring" it's a problem. Personally it means nothing to me, I've painstakingly pushed my way to my unbroken gilded season after season but when you're teamed up with clanmates who are one step shy of quitting because they have never seen 5500 and you cant help them because you're in a sea of "where did he go" and "what the...". Granted I'm not an elite player but under normal circumstances I can at least add to the team effort and hold my own, but phew these lobbies. Adding to the issue is the fact that almost every match is with an xbox player because of the ps5 shortage. I'd rather wait a little longer between matches and know it's gonna be my lack of skill that is the reason for my death.

11 Repliesyou claim ps5 shortages but you do realise ps5 have sold 26 million units and xbox have only sold 18 million units. i wonder if the player count on ps is just simply lower.

They should have never done it in the first place without dedicated servers. However, that being said, they aren’t going to go back on that one.

2 RepliesAs a PSN Guardian, just from my matches in Trials over the weekend, I had the best connections and very few "bullsh*t" moments when my lobbies were a majority of PSN players. Whenever I joined matches and I was literally the only PS player in a lobby full of Xbox, the amount of bullsh*tery was off the chain. ( And it's the same way for my friends on Xbox who match into lobbies of mostly PS user) People not freezing to freeze abilities, lil void suck buddy not sucking on em despite it literally being right on their body. Enemies running into the wall, taking no damage and than I instantly die and they are somewhere else entirely. Getting killed through walls and the likes. Whoa momma it was tiring.

Bungie won't get dedicated servers. Bungie doesn't even like putting out money on meaningful content.

I can relate. As a xbox player I made a post like this months ago and all I got what you have bad internet. I've been playing for years and after the added this cross play it made it difficult to play.

12 RepliesThere’s far more ps5 owners than Xbox XS There’s just more Xbox users that play destiny. PS users mainly play solo games, while Xbox is filled with FPS pvp players or madden/2k users

Your statement is too definitive. Bungie has already stated they will never go with dedicated servers. And before anyone tries to use Sony as an excuse, they have agreed to be completely hands off with any executive decisions - that was the terms of the buyout. Now, why won't they go with dedicated servers? Too expensive for very little benefit (in their minds). The hybrid server allows the planets, materials, enemies, spawn points, etc. to be on their servers while P2P allows for easier and direct connections to fireteams. Is it perfect, absolutely not. But, we play with the hands we're dealt. What else can we do?

It's the same for me as an Xbox player facing PlayStation. Because Xbox live and PSN are not fully compatible , relays are needed to join them as far as I know. You can have an Xbox player in a fireteam with PlayStation player next door and the data to join one with the other will have to go to the nearest relay , which could be a great distance away leading to higher latency.

The latency is horrible. Hit registration is ruined for many players. The damage ref does the rest.

1 ReplyI think there are 6 or 7 different platforms in total, and two games. You want to cluster the population, which has never been this small, into subsections? It would actually be funny to see Bungie’s paid streamers and their trials carry service fighting each other’s every game, or get farmed by more goal oriented off-stream carry services.

1 ReplyWhen I was playing Destiny 2, lol, I could tell the same when I would play against PlayStation players (PS player are know to have the highest net latency of all cross play platforms;), and I am on PC. And on PC there is no way to turn cross play off that I know of LOL. I'm assuming it's only on console? Anyways, the point that I was getting at that agreed with you was, I have a deal with number and time management (autism) and the matches that have cross play activated, always take anywhere between 5 to 10 times longer to load in the pre-match, and in the aftermatch lobby. Before you go back to orbit, it will just sit there be stuck at 0 seconds.

Sigh....once again I must repeat that Destiny 2 is [b]never[/b] going to get servers because they would have to recode the [b]whole[/b] game and that is not going to happen. Personally, I very rarely experience any lag in Destiny and I'm playing on WiFi which isn't recommended. I don't have a problem with Destiny's network setup. -

Dedicated servers will never hapoen due to greed and pvp would be far more laggy with crossplay removed.

I'm glad someone wrote a thread about this. The lag is terrible and has been terrible since crossplay was introduced. Rubberbanding, time-hopping, shots don't land, delay, etc. The more players from different platforms are in the pool, the worse it is. I no longer play Control because of lag and higher risk of DCing (which now means risk of earning a time out.) I even had my lines checked to make sure it wasn't me. 6-person pools have less lag, so I stick to those –– usually Elimination. The news that modes like Elimination and Rumble will be on rotation in the future was disappointing because that means I'll gam less often. (I like PVE, but I don't like the repetition. I used to play PVP almost daily.) Ultimately, Bungie can do what they want with changing content, but this is a real problem because it makes the game unplayable.
