I love Destiny, and have played countless hours over the years. I want to play, but as of late I just can't with the development decisions being passed as of late. That said, if Bungie were to abandon D2 and release D3, I wouldn't buy it. Making a sequel wouldn't change the inherent problems of the studio developing the games.
