(Brought this over from my post on the DestinytheGame Reddit)
Sparrows have been a constant since D1 and they haven't changed much since the launch of D2. So I wanted to discuss some changes that could be made to Sparrows currently.
Make Exotic Sparrows Feel Like Exotics
Currently the only Exotic Sparrows that feel like true Exotics are the Always On Time with its extra speed, Stealth Running, Improved Assembler, and hidden Vernial Thrusters Perk and the old Dawning Sparrow that drops glimmer as you drive.
Otherwise the only thing that differentiates Exotic Sparrows from Legendaries is the fact they have the Destabilizers Perks by default (at least every exotic Sparrow post-Shadowkeep does).
A revamp of the Sparrow rarity could fix this. Instead of both Legendary and Exotic Sparrows (excluding Always On Time) having one random rolled intrinsic, Legendary Sparrows could get two random intrinsics and Exotic Sparrows would have three plus Destabilizers. Which would bring other Exotic Sparrows on par with Always on Time in terms of perks (since Stealth Running isn't exclusive to AOT) and would make the rarity teirs make a little more sense.
Uncommon Sparrows having no perks, Rare Sparrows having one, Legendaries having two, and Exotics having three and Destabilizers. Instead of none for uncommon, one for rare, one for Legendary, one plus Destabilizers for all Exotics.
(Altnertively) Make Sparrows Purely Cosmetic
This would make Sparrows work similarly to Ghost Shells currently. All Sparrows would become upgradable and available to masterwork at a the same resource cost as Ghost Shells. Intrinsic Sparrow Perks would become Sparrow Specfic Mods with energy levels just like Ghost mods. In addition all Sparrow Mods could be purchased for Glimmer from Amanda Holiday in the Tower.
Upgrading Sparrows could work in the traditional sense with each mod being assigned an energy value, or Sparrows gain more mod slots the closer they are to masterwork. So a Sparrow with one energy has one mod slot and a masterwork Sparrow has three mod slots. Perhaps upon Masterwork all Sparrows could gain the Destabilizers Perks as well.
Furthermore, Sparrows Engine types (Standard, Tuned, and Custom) could be overhauled to sacrifice speed for different features such as better handling or more health. Or All Sparrows could be brought up to the same speed and their could be mods for improved Sparrow Health and Handling.
Bring Back Sparrow Horns
There are many players in the community who would like to see Sparrow Horns return. In addition to being a fun cosmetic, Sparrow Horns could serve the function of startling the enemies that hear them, with a slight cooldown to balance it (as well as prevent spamming). This cooldown could appear above the Sparrow HUD like other effect cooldowns during combat.
Amanda Holiday could offer a series of basic Sparrow Horns for Glimmer in the Tower. Meanwhile other horns could be obtained through completing specific Triumphs or purchased from Eververse for Silver or Brightdust.
Customizable Sparrow Trails
Sparrow Trail effects could be sold by Amanda Holiday or Eververse. When applied these would change the appearance of your Sparrow's exhaust trail while boosting. These could be simple single color trails or flashier trails with themed effects like Siva, Taken, Hive Magic, Corrupted Ether, Rainbow, Etc...
While the idea of Sparrow 2.0 is far from the top teir important updates for Destiny 2. It'd still be great to see at somepoint in the future.
So tell me what you guys think, what changes would you want to see to Sparrows in D2?

Edited by JazzyPaladin477: 12/3/2022 8:31:20 PMJust let us use sidearms On sparrows, shooting perpendicular to direction to direction of travel. Like grand theft auto. Doing drivebys with arc buddies is great fun. Would be great if we could use actual weapons. And a smoke screen. That would be great if you could deploy smoke behind your sparrow.

The only thing they should do is make all sparrows the same speed OR be able to transmog AOT (and all the other sparrows). AOT has the benefit of having enemies attack you less. Call it an exotic perk if you wish. SRL needs to stay in the past. Total waste of time and resources.

Just buy Always on Time and then never change it.

Yeah, they need to differentiate exotic sparrows and legendary sparrows. It’s as if exotic armor and weapons were just normal legendary weapons with really sick designs and no difference between the two rarities. Sooo, we need more Always On Times hehe 😉 And also, #BringBackSRL

Edited by Daemon White: 12/1/2022 3:39:58 AMI never did play D1, but SRL sounds like it would be exciting, I'd be concerned over content creators pushing out the optimal route and sparrow per-map unless Bungie plans ahead to put enough RNG and variation into each map through obstacles or perhaps powerups to keep it interesting. Horns please, doesn't need to be gameplay related, just beep beep.
