Repeated 'weasel', 'centipede' & 'chicken' errors on PC

Is anyone else having this issue? I make it as far as the character screen then after selecting my character, the screen goes dark and the "contacting Destiny 2 servers" notification repeatedly pops up. Then I get a error screen with either 'weasel', 'centipede' or 'chicken' cited as the error code with the most common being 'weasel'. I had no issues logging in and playing prior to the recent server outage on January 25th. Nothing about my Wifi setup has been changed. I've done the Wifi connection tests, cleared Steam cache and even tried logging in using my mobile hotspot which garnered identical results. I'm able to surf the web normally and even play other online games with no problem. Please assist @Bungie 🙏 edit: all errors seem to have subsided as of today 31/01/23 SGT

  • ive been getting similar weasel and anteater errors for a month now. People keep saying its my end but it -blam!- isn't. Sad considering lightfall is right around the corner and it seems i wont be able to play it.

  • Same here. I've played on the same PC for the last 2 years and have two internet connections at home. Only during the last week have I ever gotten an error (besides maintenance related ones) and have been getting weasel errors off and on. For those saying it's "user end" I have <10ms ping and gigabit running through a high end router and a gigabit switch with automatic failover to the second internet line.

    Update: if you’re in the SEA region and still have intermittent issues especially during peak internet traffic hours. This might be the cause: [url=https://www.reddit.com/r/singapore/comments/10owken/apparently_this_is_the_reason_for_yesterdays/]link[/url] (it’s Reddit page) Sadly no ETA on a fix, hope this helps and hopefully it’s resolved soon.

  • Wouldn't be so terrible if the recent patch didn't start giving me a 10-20min load in. This is just insanity.

  • I can attest to this as well. I'm on my router connected by cable. I've restarted the router AND the computer. This is becoming a HUGE issue. We even have a NEW router!!!

  • not sure if it'll work, but try clearing your system cache. it works for me when that happens

  • Been having this issue whole day, can't even get past character selection without `Contacting Server` popups. Can't manage to stay in destinations/activities like GMs/Containment and get kicked due to weasel/Baboon. Also, quite a bit of noticeable lag/loading on the cursor when dismantling/switching out weapons

  • Ok this seems to have became our main forum post, so let’s keep all of our posts in this one and update it, if we got in and/or it got fixed or if we managed find a fix., please post here. It’ll also be easier for devs and mods to see it this way.

    • I have this exact same problem. No issues on 28th January but suddenly on 29th January I can not get past the character selection screen with similar error codes.

    • Same issue, it was fine couple of days ago and today suddenly none stop error codes, I’ve never had this problem before, granted this could be caused by a lot things, it could be regional or ISP related. I’m in SEA region

        Are you playing on WiFi? If yes, that is likely the problem. WiFi is not recommended for online gaming due to interference. You should play on a wired network for the best results. Destiny 2 is fully online with no reported issues. All the error codes you report are user-end errors. For help troubleshooting your network, see the links below.         • Having the same issue. Was in the middle of a crucible match, got kicked out and now I can't connect at all to it. Internet works fine, I can play other games online just fine. I've been trying on and off for like 4 hours now. Still no dice.
