Why do players argue about opinions or feedback

It is literally a thought from a different mind. Someone with a different philosophy and theory based off their own experience. Opinions and feedback are only experiences from the masses and do not hold any power or change physically to the game. AE and the slide nerf are prime examples of this because nobody truthfully asked for it but Bungie made the decision on their own. It is the most toxic ego complex ever. If I came on the forums and said “orange” is the best color in the world. It does not mean it is true. It only proves I like the color “orange”. The game is suffering because there are players who would argue against the color orange not being the best color for their own color being superior. Silly little ego complex.

        • Because without other people challenging your opinion, you can't possibly take into account other people's experiences and therefore will have far less informed opinions. It is not an ego complex to challenge publicly stated ideas or opinions. It might be depending on HOW you challenge that idea/opinion, but that's a different conversation. I'd argue it's pretty dumb to publicly state an idea or opinion, especially on a place like video game feedback forum and think it can't or won't be challenged.

It’s not just a Destiny issue. I think critical thinking and being able to seeing things from an objective perspective are rare qualities these days. I believe the internet is partly to blame because of lack of accountability in a mostly anonymous setting, and the sheer amount and variety of information available that allows people to read/watch another’s opinion that aligns with their beliefs or “agenda” and then stop looking for information. And then take what they have learned as fact. Probably should just delete the internet. (This is all of course, my opinion) Edit: To add to this, I belong to a Facebook group in which the Admin asked for our feedback and input so he could share it with devs. I wrote a 5 or 6 paragraph post citing some changes I thought would be beneficial. He then proceeded to tell me I was flat out wrong and asked me to list examples to prove my opinion. I was polite and didn’t argue my point, but it just seemed strange he told me I was wrong about my suggestions.

            • Because if you said ”orange is the best color” on a feedback forum and that opinion influences game design even though not everyone agrees and suddenly the next expansion is entirely in orange. Orange armor. Orange abilities. Orange weapons. Orange aliens. You see why people might oppose it?

                  • An some give reasons why their feedback wouldn't work and some will argue anyways that their "feedback" will improve the game.

Opinions are fine and a large playerbase is bound to have differing ideas about the game. However, it’s helpful when we present our opinions as opinions (not facts). It’s also worth remembering that Bungie has to wade through the data and feedback in order to choose a direction they feel is right for the million+ players, not just the opinionated forum/Reddit/Twitter users.

AE and the slide nerf are prime examples of this because nobody truthfully asked for it but Bungie made the decision on their own. [/quote] AE and slide nerf are being reworked, therefore they do hold power via Bungie making changes based on player feedback. Also many people complained about slide mega, leading to the slide nerf, so your point really makes no sense. But that’s just my opinion so you really shouldn’t argue about it.

                          • Opinions are like aholes, everyone has one. And has absolutely nothing to do with why the game is suffering.
