Nah that was D1, where you could roll up to Rahool with a shiny exotic engram and have him suck the air in through his teeth, look you in the eye and go "ok, the best I can do for you is a piece of blue gear"

Or when your engram would decrypt into a piece of gear for a different class. I only created a titan because I eventually had a full legendary armor set for him that way lol

Nah it was garbage, especially since legendary engrams were rare & gear had to be leveled up to reach higher light levels.

When you play the game for pvp they stack up nicely, not to mention you could farm stats on them albeit randomly and slowly, so eventually with 2 month farm time, or players with limited time could have builds for their other characters. With the current excess amount of umbral engrams, I wish they would decrypt into other class gear. It's super rare but some have, but in exotic form only, half the titan exotics I own have come from just decrypting, same with hunter.....though I think it's pure RNG as some people have never gotten exotics from umbral. I am glad they restored the exotic emote/skins to bright engrams....they removed that for the first season or two whenever Activision left .... Forums were in a greater flame state than right now over that stuff...I was kinda burned as well. However some strictly silver items will never come to bright engrams, skins that have been around for years (iridescent death, ed, heart of inmost light, cryolynx for stag helm) are in the pool. It may have been crap and rare, but it's way better than not at all
