Does it make any sense that the “least valuable” currency (enhancement cores) is the hardest to farm out of the three? Run 3 GMs and you can max out your shards and prisms, but if you run out of cores there is no good way to get more.
Not only that, but enhancement cores have 3x more applications than shards and prisms. This system just doesn’t make sense.
I know none of this is news to anyone who actually plays the game, but that’s kinda the point. It doesn’t take much playtime to see that this economy is basically another time gate.

It’s not an ideal trade since it requires glimmer and legendary shards, but you can convert prisms into enhancement cores: Grab whatever blue piece of armor, upgrade it to 8, dismantle, you earned 3 enhancement cores or something like that.

Yes, I know of this method, and it’s definitely better than nothing. Even still, it is kinda dumb that us players have to jump through so many hoops to achieve a goal that should’ve been shipped with the system from the start. I’ll admit that I’m complaining about a problem that is not too difficult to workaround, but this is something that has bothered me for years.

Gunsmith bounties, you will be rolling in cores. I have over 8000 cores with nothing to really spend them on. I could masterwork every weapon and armor in my vault and not use more then 200-300 cores.

Nearly the only time I need to spend cores is to upgrade erroneous gear in order to claim materials (prisms/shards/etc).

I also see a lot from dismantling. We'll not a lot, that makes it sound like im drowning in them. Enough to get me by. Ascendant shards, on the other hand...

There is, but it requires things like defeating bosses at the end of strikes or precision kills in PvP. It will net you maybe 1-2 every 15 min depending on what activity you play, but even then that ghost slot has some steep competition. Also, given the choice, would you rather have the chance of one enhancement core dropping at the end of an activity or an extra piece of legendary gear, which when when dismantled has the guarantee of gunsmith xp, legendary shards (which are probably the second hardest currency to farm) and the small possibility of a core. Even with these mods though, I still can’t seem to earn enough fast enough. The paradox is that the more I play, the more I spend/upgrade gear. This is the game loop, and the current economy just doesn’t work well with it.
