The carbon footprint incurred by playing video games is contributing to the destruction of natural environments and the displacement and/or deaths of the animals within them. Also do you know what kind of effect quarrying for the metals in tech has on the local ecosystems? Also also, casein, a protein found in and taken from milk, is often used in the production of electrical transformers, so, good luck trying to work out beforehand if any tech you use has those in.

  • Isn’t that a bit like saying, ‘we’re all connected to terrible things, so either address all of them or none of them?’ None of us are saints. People focus on areas they think they can take control of. I’m not saying that gives anyone a free pass for all the other things, but let’s be real about what it would take to live a life free of sin - is it even possible?

Yes, that’s a valid point. However, although nobody would claim to be completely free from ‘sin’, if you define yourself by being free of meat or animal cruelty, surely you would go to reasonable lengths to at least know all of the ways in which you may have a negative impact on animal welfare, even if you end up having to concede something small for practicality reasons. For example, someone went out of their way to produce ‘vegan wine’ because some very small part of the process normally uses animal protein. Do all vegans drink only vegan wine? Probably not, but the fact that it exists shows that it is a known ‘issue’ that people can make a decision on. OP clearly hasn’t got a clue about whether their gaming hobby is at odds with their vegan identity, and all I’m doing is pointing it out.

  • Fair enough. It’s impossible to live without damaging animal habitats though. I don’t think anyone can claim to do that. All we can do is try to minimise it.

do you have reviewed sources to back these claims? regardless, you clearly are disgruntled. living as a vegan is to take the steps to contribute as little unnecessary harm as possible. one hundred percent reduction is completely impossible given today’s climate and every day necessities for one’s work, for example. additionally, if that is a long winded reply to imply that you are not vegan and never could be then i did not ask. i also do not care. you clearly can spend your time “researching” what benefits your narrative to troll vegans but not to post your sources.
do you have reviewed sources to back these claims?
Normally people don’t have to site common sense.
regardless, you clearly are disgruntled.
probs just thinks your post is dumb
additionally, if that is a long winded reply
it was three sentences lol
then i did not ask.
No one asked you, either.
i also do not care.
You care enough to write out a “long winded reply”.
you clearly can spend your time “researching” what benefits your narrative to troll vegans
Again, it’s just common knowledge. What, did you think gaming computers were built from locally-sourced hemp for carbon sequestration?
all of that
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie must seem like War & Peace to you. Maybe one day you’ll be able to read more than three words without your brain overloading.

  • Regardless of whether the specific things I just said are true or not, it’s your responsibility to at least know or think about the harms you might be inadvertently causing or taking advantage of, else what is the point of being vegan? Tech is such a big part of society these days, it’s inconceivable that nowhere along the line animal products are used, given how integral they have been to most other industries. Given that you’re a gamer as well as a vegan, do you know anything about the possible negative impact gaming or the tech industry might have on animals? If not, why not?
